Sirenitas 18th fiesta

shari - 10-29-2007 at 02:24 PM

Finally I have a moment to report that the party was lovely, nobody landed up in jail OR in the hospital! the weather was fantastic, food divine, beer cold, music loud, ocean warm and everyone behaved themselves well. We had 5 Nomads in total and amigos came from BOLA, Jesus Maria, GN and San Hipolito to share in the celebration. mrtrotters gringo pozole was a big hit and he will now be invited to all the local parties! Bajaboy's sangria was delicioso and the raw oysters were fabulous. Sirenita was too busy to get drunk...good girl! and was a very good sport about getting her face smashed in the cake (local custom). The party continued till late on Sunday and sirenita and her pals made yummy micheladas. I'm sure mstrotter will post some of her pics but here are a few of mine too.

Wow, they got you good with the cake, Sirenita. I could certainly do without that tradition!

Cake face? I thought that was make-up for this special event Tammy Faye Baker style.

DianaT - 10-30-2007 at 04:19 PM

Putting together a CD for Shari so she can choose what she wants posted----also, this computer is not cooperating and we were up very early this morning to go Lobster Fishing---so I may try to post some more later.

Was a very nice party------just wanted to share this one right now.

More to come

wiltonh - 10-30-2007 at 09:57 PM

I think posting the cake face makes the rest of feel like we had been at party. If you had not posted it, we would have missed out on a very interesting local custom.

We just had a birthday party for my one year old grandson and I very much hoped to get a picture like that. Instead he wanted to eat his cake with a fork. No photo op in that.

;)

Sirena, that cake photo is just fantastic! It shows a wonderful image of an old tradtion that you should be proud of. It's your sign of passage into adulthood that you will never forget.

Looks like the party of the century for sure Shari and Sirena. Hope to do a cake when we are down there and do the same tradition. Looks like the Beach house continues with its tradition of the place to be in BA. Hope she had a wonderful time and I love the dress. You're going to have to wear it for New Years too. Can't wait to get down to see you. When did Shari get so short, or did you get taller since last year.

beauty's obviously in the jeans! (ooops meant 'genes')

fishbuck - 10-31-2007 at 10:59 PM

I just got home to Costa Mesa from B. Asuncion. I missed the cake but the party was still going strong when I got there on Sunday.
Congratulations to Sirena and Shari for such a cool party. Everyone was very friendly. Thanks to all and especially Juan and Shari for making me feel welcome.
And yes, Sirena is a very beautiful woman!

A few more pictures

DianaT - 11-1-2007 at 02:50 PM

Shari said there was no trouble at the party--no trouble makers, well that is not quite true.:lol:

Before Sirena´s face found the cake, the camera caught this little guy with his fingers in the cake.

Then Sirena had to physically remove this little rascal who was attacking the cake.

But the first little guy made up for it with a good swing at the pinada the next day

Ah, but Sirena had the magic swing

And as Shari said, the adults seemed to have the most fun with the pinada

And the winning couple

And just one more for now. If any of you are planning a party and want a little bit of sangria, just invite Bajaboy and maybe he will bring his little tiny bottle of sangria.:lol:

He said he needed the water bottle down here and there was no reason to transport it empty.:yes:

SiReNiTa - 11-1-2007 at 06:13 PM

docsmom - 11-1-2007 at 09:58 PM

Please tell, who's kitchen is the great sangria in? The stonework under the bar and the tile above the range look great!

Oh yea, goes without mention that the sangria is mouthwatering! Oops, guess I thought it did deserve mention!

Bajaboy, I so have BA in my sights! I'm thinking I need to schedule when you and your gourmet delights are there!

That is the 'beach house' at Bahia Asuncion available for guests of Shari & Juan http://www.bajabnb.com

Baja Angel and I stayed there the two nights we were in Bahia Asuncion and it was most comfortable!

I do believe Juan is responsible for the stone work in the house.

Here's another example of the stone work...

Yes, Juan's stonework is absolutely stunning and Im glad you appreciate it...he's now building an entire casita of stone at our place out on the rock....even the bed will be a stone base! Anyone planning to go fishing may want to invite bajaboy as he has become somewhat of a legend here...never been skunked yet..always comes home with YT! and makes a wicked sangria. Thanks mstrotter for posting the pics, I know how painfully slow the internet cafe is here. I sure wish someone would move here who would provide satellite internet! We'd even give ya a good deal on a lot! Oh yeah, Halboo showed up last night just in time for the day of the dead BBQ yellow tail, stuffed peppers and guava pie! MrHalboo is dying to catch a YT but bajaboy heads home today so we'll see what happens. glad ya got home OK fishbuck...it was fun to have you at the party.
