Storage facility near the frontera?

astrobaja - 10-31-2007 at 08:04 AM

Hi all,

Looks like we will be making the move to Baja around the end of December:tumble:

Our stuff is coming via N American vanlines from Canada but now we are looking for a good storage facility near the border. I found a few in Chula Vista online but I wonder if any could recommend one based on their experience. I saw the prices seem pretty even from place to place ca. $200/month for a 11X20. Still 3X's what you pay in maneadero! We will be moving it again after we are settled in a bit. It seems that it still is cheaper to move in 2 gos rather than one:(

thanks

Mike

You might see if your moving company offers any storage. We moved our own stuff via U-haul as far as Chula Vista. Uhaul offered 30 days free storage with one of their affiliates there. We were able to get all of our stuff out of there within the 30 days so it cost us nothing!

Why not have it taken directly to your Mexican importer and across the border ?
The less loading and unloading, the better.

I used

http://sandiegoselfstorage.com/otaymesa.html

Close to the Otay crossing, no problems getting the Segunda guys to move it across

Oh, yeah...... I have enough books to open a library. That's what happens when you combine a credit card with the internet and a box of Pacifico. Shopping is so easy. I almost bought a banjo the other day. It's as good as mine after the next fiestita. I wonder how you play those things.

OMG Dennis! A banjo??? I'm going to buy one for my son for Christmas. Not because he plays one, but because I love them and he should learn how to play one for his mom. Now that I know you have one....you may have to get learning on the dum-diddy-dum style.
I'm sure you'll figure out how to play it, but hurry up, will ya?

Im on it. Me, my banjo and my drums will be a welcome addition to the quiet ambience in Asuncion.

We all know that you march to the beat of a different drummer, but with banjo in hand at @ Asuncion? Unless you keep it local, you're going to have to head to the other side to make music in my camp...

Oh, yeah..... I know where you are. I'm just dragging out an old theme here about me and my drums in Assuncion. I guess you missed it.

Yup, I guess I missed it. I'm usually NOT one step ahead of the drummer.

First month is usually "free" at most public storage locations. There is one on Main St just off I-5.

Hiltop main self storage is another decent storage location that is secure. When I rented here last fall they had a special of 1/2 of the first 2 months for new customers.
