My friend and former South Carolinian, Dana, had a Dia de Los Muertos celebration in her gallery in old San Jose last night.
The altar greeted you when you came in the door.
OOPS too big

A special place for a very special person who passed away this year.
Xipe, one of the nicest men, I have ever met. He was a wonderful artist. His medium was batiks and his subjects were Aztecs. He is sorely missed
not only for his art but also for his very special spirit.

The courtyard was transformed in to a graveyard.

This tapete was made of colored saw dust. A dog wandered into the gallery and we all held our breath for fear he would find this fragile art.

Thanks so much for posting these, Judy. What a beautiful altar and tapete. How nice that the spirit guided that dog away from such fragile art.
A touch of flu kept me from getting out to our local displays, which makes it especially satisfying to see the pictures posted by you, Eli, and Paula.
Gracias a todos.

Nice display at Dana's galerie.
I remember her opening up for the first time, November 2001. Boy was it quiet in SJ, just after 9/11
Glad to see she is still in business.
