The last email I sent in this forum was last Thanksgiving and I asked anyone interested if they wanted to play a round of golf during this holiday
season and no one responded. Well, I am asking again. Anyone interested?
I played the other day and shot a 76 with a couple of ankle flips into the fairway but all in all it was one of my "better days".....
I am going for foot surgery on December 18th but am playing in two tournaments in Mexico City and will have a round I"m sure in Puerto Rico prior to
that and I will be in Ensenada for the Thanksgiving weekend so u2u me and we'll play!
The Baja Country Club is really playing nice. The greens hold very well and they are improving the course all the time.
Many more custom homes are being built so those of you who are interested in a fairway property stop by and have a look see.......
Hope to hear from you soon!

Lips...
You would probably get a larger response if you said 176. I mean, what are you.... a touring professional?
Take Terry out there and show him how to hit a ball.bajadock - 11-6-2007 at 07:22 AM
LL,
3 strokes each side please, back tees. Too many other activities turkey week.lizard lips - 11-6-2007 at 09:29 AM
Dennis, Last time Terry was on a golf course he broke his ankle! Since he will be spending more time down here I plan on helping him with his swing
and will provide a walker and if necessary hold his hand when he is walking back to the cart.
Doc, I love the back tees and will give you 3 a side! Lest play when you have a chance.....Im 53 now and play better than when I was 23. Just better
course management I guess and no getting wasted while playing.

I have the x-rays to prove it!!!! and I was sober at the time.
Maybe we need to set up a Nomads tournament???DanO - 11-6-2007 at 10:22 AM
Lips, they clean up those dead tilapia in the lake yet?DENNIS - 11-6-2007 at 12:16 PM
I remember years back when the whole place was neglected. Cows would be all over the course. In wet weather, they would walk around the greens
putting in a six inch hole with every step. That's the way putting greens should be. Never miss a shot.
A Nomad tournament would be a lot of fun, especially if we can find a course where the ball goes through the windmill.bajaguy - 11-6-2007 at 12:20 PM
maybe we develop some other hazards........Martyman - 11-6-2007 at 12:50 PM
I would love to play sometime (just not this weekend) & I'm in for the nomad tourney.DENNIS - 11-6-2007 at 01:06 PM

I think I saw them fileted and on sale at the local Costco.lizard lips - 11-6-2007 at 03:06 PM
This is a funny story. I worked at the BCC prior to the first nine opening from 1989 to 1991 and was the sales manager. One of the initial investors
was a gringo from Vegas who was a casino manager for many years at a very popular casino on the strip. He had alot of friends that smoked large cigars
and were Itilian if you know what I mean.
The owners bought these large fish from New Zealand that ate the alge in the lakes at $25.00 a pop. One day "Dick" the investor asked me to go with
him and check out the progress being made on the front nine and as we were driving in a golf cart close to the 8th hole some of the Mexican
workers/laborers had set up a make shift bar-b-que and were eating what looked like burritos. Dick stopped the cart to check out the 8th green very
close to where the workers were eating and the next thing I saw was Dick yelling at these guys at the top of his lungs, in English, something about
these fuc$%? guys are fired. He kept on yelling and yelling at them and they just looked at him like what is this guy taliking about?
I looked over at where they were and saw two of these fish being bar-b-qued on the make shift grill. The fish looked really tasty. I think they had
already had finished two of them. I grabbed Dick by the arm and took him back to the cart and returned to the clubhouse. I Think about this whenever
Im on that hole and just laugh to myself. I can still see Dicks face which was as red as an apple and the Mexican workers with the looks on their face
like, what the hell is he yelling about.
Close to this hole was a tree that had died and a Red Tip Falcon would pearch on top of it and occasionally fly down over the lake and scoop out a
fish and eat it with one claw on top of this dead tree.
One day I saw the falcon there and took Dick in the cart to that area not telling him what was going on. I showed him the falcon sitting on top of
that tree and he told me how beautiful these birds were and right after he said that the bird flew down and grabbed a fish and returned to the tree to
eat it while Dick is having a fit. He almost stroked out from being so mad.
The next day when i arrived at the course I saw Dick in a cart with a shotgun waiting for that bird all day which never came back.DENNIS - 11-6-2007 at 04:19 PM
So...The water hazard was/is a fish pond. Are they the Talapia that DanO alluded to?

Lizard,
We almost always are down for Thanksgiving but not this year. whaaaa! When we're down Docsdad wold love to play golf every day. Can we send you an
invite when we're coming down? (as a favor to me so I can sit on the beach quietly for at least one day while the husband has someone to play
with?!?).
Your score of 76 is a bit intimidating. Only reply if you're happy playing with hackers. lizard lips - 11-6-2007 at 10:10 PM
Of course Mom! Give me a shout.........lizard lips - 11-6-2007 at 10:13 PM
Dennis, I cant remember the name of the fish but they grew to about 38 inches long and weighed about 20lbs full grown.elgatoloco - 11-6-2007 at 11:30 PM
Hey lizard lips! Thank you again for the gracious invitation to the hordes of us Nomad golfers! We are hoping to get down there for that weekend. Don't want to make any promises I can't keep but we will stay in
touch. Shot an 82 from the blues at Bajamar on Halloween. Scary! sounds
like I will get 3 a side from you? Loser buys dinner at Casamar?
lizard lips - 11-7-2007 at 06:51 AM
Elg, lets invite Terry "Bajaguy" and make the same bet with him also for Rib Eyes. He's got a new bar b thats he just itchin to use and he lives on
the course!
I really think we should have a NOMAD tourney also. It would be great fun to get these guys together.bajaguy - 11-7-2007 at 08:22 AM

Lets get a date......Set it up with Jose, Lips. I'll get the barbie fired up!!!!
Thanksgiving is out, but I'll be down for Christmaslizard lips - 11-7-2007 at 11:25 AM
I wont be able to play until after February because of my surgery but lets try and have the very first "NOMAD INVITATIONAL" around Easter. That will
give all of you hackers time to tune your game and the weather will be really nice!
I can get all of my friends that own hotels and other bisinesses to donate for the closest to the hole and long drive as well as winners of the
tourney.
Who is interested?DENNIS - 11-7-2007 at 11:34 AM
I don't play but I can caddy....as long as we use carts with coolers.
I'm in

Dern says that if we're there at the right time, he'd like to play.
I want to caddy with Dennis or fish in the lake.
EGL, you and the Barbinator can stay with us.

From what I can gather, that lake is full of baracuda.bajadock - 11-7-2007 at 05:48 PM
Lips, is that 3 months for Dennis on the carts or the coolers? Let's T it UP!

Guess that leaves me out.

Paulina,
As you are already aware, us single guys are big on talk...you can caddy for me anytime, darlin'!BajaGeoff - 11-8-2007 at 11:39 AM
I am in for sure. I have only been playing golf for a couple of years now, but really enjoy it. Baja Bound would also be happy to sponsor the event
too. I think sometime in spring would be great! Let's do this!
Scramble format maybe? (Good for us golf newbies!!!)
[Edited on 11-8-2007 by BajaGeoff]lizard lips - 11-8-2007 at 10:06 PM
Scramble would be great!
Lets keep working on getting more golfers.bajadock - 11-9-2007 at 10:53 AM
Lips, from my early investigations, there is a dearth of golf enthusiasts here. I suggest expectations along the format of Punta Banda Yacht Club.
Of 200+ PBYC members, I believe only approx 1 dozen boats are owned. Any guesses what the other 188 do?BajaGeoff - 11-9-2007 at 12:56 PM
Maybe we should get a list going of Nomads that are interested and then post an announcement when we have a date set. We should also consider posting
in the General Discussion section too....since I am sure there are other Nomad golfers that would be interested that have not seen this thread yet!lizard lips - 11-10-2007 at 02:26 AM
Great idea Geoff. Im sure we can get plenty of hackers if we announce the tourney when we are ready.
I saw Bajaguy at his house today at BCC and we are going to have lunch tomorrow so we can get started on some plans.
And Doc, the other 188 yacht members drink all day so maybe we can get them to play if we offer booze with the fees!
I played 9 holes with my son today and no one else was on the front nine but us.........There is nothing like having the course to yourself.mexicoman6969 - 12-3-2007 at 01:46 PM
I, too, usually shoot in the low 70's.......gets any hotter than that and I stay in the clubhouse...
Really! What's my handicap, you ask? Every club in the bag!
Seriously, I shot an 83 last time out. On the back nine I did a bit better!
Young fellow was put with an old guy to golf with. On the fifth hole the young fellows ball was behind a tall tree and the green was on the other
side. The young fellow didn't have a shot under the tree and was looking around for a way out when the old guy said, "When I was your age, I'd play a
pitching wedge and give it all I had. Generally landed right on the green." The young fellow thought about it then grabbed his wedge. He stood over
the ball intensely, then with every ounce of strength, he brought the club down hard. The ball quickly rose up into the air, hit near the top of the
tree and came down a few feet from the young golfer. He looked at the old man. The old man replied, "Well, when I was your age, that tree was a lot
smaller, also."DanO - 12-3-2007 at 02:28 PM
Good one. When it comes to trees, I try to keep in mind the fundamental fact that they are 90% air.Paladin - 12-22-2007 at 11:28 AM
Golf sounds good one of these days as long as you have some sort of Senior Flight.
If I want to get my but whipped by youngters I'll call my 22 year old son.lizard lips - 12-22-2007 at 06:49 PM
Dont worry. We are all in the "Senior Flight".......................bajadock - 12-23-2007 at 09:39 AM
LL,
BCC looks happy this morning from my perch 10 miles west. I'll alert you
when I see Santa's sleigh approaching so that you have all of the little ones in bed before arrival.
