Here's a shot of the electric lines heading to BLA. When we were there in October they hadn't yet hooked up to 24/7 electricity and the generator was
still running.
Those I talked with - local Mexicans and gringos alike felt that the electricity would have a more profound effect on the village than did the paved
road.
As one ex-ejido president told me there will be hotels and golf courses where the desert is now and atv's on the beach and jet skis on the water
where the turtles and whale sharks now feed...

Are you kidding me or what? We have so called 24/7 power and I have never seen it 7 days a week and very seldom is it 24 hours a day. In fact when
we were looking at refrigerators, our mexican friend said not to buy a Mabe because you needed to unplug it for two hours when the power went off and
he figured you would never get any sleep with all the plugging and unplugging that goes on.

The other day after a more prolonged power outage, CFE was going to all the power poles in our area and power washing the insulators. When I asked,
the worker said they get loaded with dust and start sparking and jumping, so they have to go by every so often, especially after a big northern blow
and clean the dust from the insulators.
I don't ever remember seeing that in the states either.
