I dont know why I didnt think of posting this yesterday but here goes.
Yesterday on my way to Mega as I approached the glorieta I saw two labs, one black, one blond playing in the westbound traffic. I raced into the Mega
parking lot, jumped out of my car forgetting to turn it off and made my way through traffic to the median where I grabbed each dog by the collar and
started talking to them. They were both out of breath and seemed frightened. As I stood there with the two huge dogs, each must have weighed around
100lbs, I thought, now what. If they take off I am going to get hurt. About that time I looked up and saw a friend in her pickup. She said whats up
and I told her. Her friend jumped out of the truck and we got the two dogs in her truck and she took them home. She is one of the founders of CARE.
I really have no idea what I would have done with these two dogs. I honestly dont believe that I could have gotten them across the two lanes of
traffic by myself.
This is just another example of Baja Magic. And how special things just happen here.
I know that this is a long shot but if anyone knows who these dogs belong to please contact me.

Sure was Baja Magic for 2 dogs! They were lucky you saw them, and we are all lucky that you are OK!bajajudy - 11-15-2007 at 01:10 PM
The owners put signs up around town which a friend spotted. There was a $4000peso reward. When we called the number, it turned out to be a friend
our ours. We settled on a nice dinner together as our reward.
More Magic
good story!!

Hola,
Don't want to sound negative about this story with a happy ending....but....would the owners have found their pets sooner if they weren't picked up by
the Good Samaritan????
Folks sometimes pick up "abandoned" seal pups up in the Pacific Northwest and take them to shelters, only to realize that their mothers were nearby
and the pups were not in need of "rescue"...
It is a good thing the dogs are home....bajajudy - 12-28-2007 at 10:38 AM
I was looking for something else and found this last post
So, Motoged, you would have had me leave the dogs in the middle of a four lane highway where cars can reach speeds of 50 miles an hour or more. That
would have been a responsible thing to do?
You and I definitely think differently about this subject...although I am scratching my head about the baby sealsmotoged - 12-29-2007 at 03:24 AM
BJ,
Yes, we do think differently about this....removing the dogs from harm's way in the traffic was a caring thing to do....removing them from the area
was well-intended but could be seen as theft or at least removing them from their neighborhood.
You did not know the dog owners yet removed them from the vicinity....what if they lived nearby and your kind deed ended up not being helpful.
As for the seal pup reference....it's not terribly complicated: folks have been known to remove seal pups from beach areas of the Pacific (northwest
in my case) thinking the pups are abandoned....when the pups are later returned from either the "rescuer's" home or animal shelter, the pups are
abandoned by nearby mothers due to the human intervention....animal shelters will strongly encourage folks to leave the seal pups alone....I suggest
you do the same once you remove an animal from a dangerous situation if the animal does not need medical attention.
You don't have to agree, just accept another viewpoint without having to scratch your head
Good intentions do not always justify the act. In this case, it worked out....

I am sure the owner of those dogs would be greatly appreciative of your actions. If they were my dogs, I would love you for saving them from being
killed or injured by a vehicle.
Our pets become family. Seal pups become really comfortable slippers and food for the native people that legally harvest them.............
Thank you for taking the time to save someones family pet/pets and family member.
