Paula,
This summer, when we had lots of caterpillars eating the leaves, we contracted with the folks that handle the plants for Loreto Bay to spray them, and
apparently it worked and it got rid of them. They do turn this nice every fall/winter though.
As far as starting new ones from cuttings, this is how we did it. Get some 1 to 2 gallon plastic bags, preferably black, fill them full of dirt and
just stick a cutting in each. Keep them moist and shaded and have lots of patience. May take 3 to 6 month for some to show signs of life. For me,
about 60 % success. Then, when planting them in the garden, make sure to let them dry out, so when you cut the bag you won't disturb the roots, cause
if you do they're gone
And we feed themgranulated fertilizer we get from the vet here ; 17-17-17.

We had the same problem as others with the insects. The plants seem to be improving now, though.
A couple of weeks ago we were visited by some official inspecting the property for mosquitos. She opened our pila and put some BT powder in it. We
water the plants from the pila, so maybe that helped knock down the bugs.bajajudy - 11-26-2007 at 10:33 AM
I was in town the other day taking some shots and the light was so bright that the flowers looked translucent. Here is my back to the sun

Is that a blue sky, or what?
This has the sun shining through.

When posting an image on nomads using the 'insert an image' button. Copy and paste the verbiage at photobucket labeled 'Direct Link' into that window.
That way you won't have those [img] tags displayed around your picture.
If the missus can see the picture by adding the URL at the top of the browser then she should see it when displayed on a nomad post. I would try that.
These things are solved by a process of elimination. You try things and draw conclusions, slowly working your way to the solution.vandenberg - 12-4-2007 at 03:58 PM
Well Joe,
After all these pics, most of them the same, what do you think I'm doing

I planted a young bougainvillae plant in my yard and now something is eating the green leaves. What can I do to get rid of whatever pest is chomping
on all the leaves?
Help!

Bob, I've sprayed my citrus trees with regular dish soap diluted in a spray bottle to get rid of white fly, maybe that would work on your Bougenvilla
instead of using poisons?vandenberg - 12-15-2007 at 08:14 PM
