Nice shots---really like that blue heron---he is so clear---the detail is great. And I always love seeing the pelicans anywhere----especially sitting on boats.

However, I think we need to send you a few of our pelicans to fill up that rock. Ours is getting a little crowded

I always enjoy your photos---

"Blue heron" is actually a yellow crowned night heron.

Nice pictures. Thanks for posting them.

Boobies
also from a few years ago

Wonderful shot, Don. I don't know why it's a bit pink like that.

I have always been amazed at their diving abilities and this picture captures the birds in different parts of the dive.

It all happens so fast that you often don't see it clearly. Near the bottom of the picture you can see how they straighten out into a virtual missile before penetrating the surface. The speed and force is amazing. If they were in diving competition it would be a perfect '10' every time. It has to be perfect or they break their necks on entry.

When these birds start to rain down all around you it really makes your blood boil.

Really cheapo digital camera. All the pics came out like that. But it has a waterproof housing, and cost about $100 a couple of years ago.

I was just going to add that Greg Louganis could learn a thing or two from those boobies ;D.

Ken Bondy - 11-27-2007 at 07:54 PM

Don that is a magnificent shot of the attack boobies. I couldn't resist tinkering with it to get rid of some of the pink hue:

Natalie Ann - 12-2-2007 at 06:14 PM

Yep, Roger, those pilings are a favorite spot for pelican activities which do not involve fishing or swiping your bait.:O:biggrin::dudette:
