Bahia Asuncion launch?

castaway$ - 11-27-2007 at 03:48 PM

I have a 20' Bayliner Trophy that I trailer down and I need to know if there is a launch that I can use. From what I have read the launch is over the beach after navigating backwards the cut in the rocks. The draft of my boat is about 18" and to put it in perspective it I can just make it out in Mulege, can I fish in Asuncion?

maybe U2U santiago, he launched his boat here and did fine...you have to back down a hill but we hauled out a 23'sailboat there no problem and launch our panga there all the time...high tide would be best. Come on down!!!

I had no problem launching my 18' aluminum (1500# boat and motor) and I don't think you will either but I would do it around high tide. The panga slot is very doable if you have any experience at backing down ramps. The trick is to take it very slow out so you see the rocks - hire Juan to go with you the first time and he will make sure you stay out of trouble - and he's very knowledgable about his home water and a great guy to pass the day with anyway. He does drink Tecate but then, no one's perfect:smug: If you catch more fish than him it will be only because he wasn't trying....
I also believe you can launch at Bahia San Roque, about 7 miles north. This slot is very calm at most times but more remote. Have Juan check you out and advise.
I do, however, suggest caution approching any gringos in this area.....:(

I believe a 20' Bayliner weights close to 4,000 lbs.
Getting back UP the ramp may be the issue.
If your tow rig is a capable 4x4, you should be fine.
If not, better take me with you so my F350 can get us home !

Got 4 wheel drive, don't have any problems backing up, prefer Pacifico but Tecate will do and everyone is invited as long as I get to catch the biggest fish!:bounce:

What we do here is double truck it up the ramp if you have problems...mexican solution! A truck towing the other truck towing the boat up! Teamwork amigos.
