Carrion Flower

I still like the look of these flowers that grow from the ground-hugging cactus in our garden. But finding out their name, and that they generate the smell of rotting flesh diminishes their appeal somewhat! Amazing that they attract flies even when there are (apparently) none around.

Very nice close-up.
They grow like crazy here. We have them all over our yard.
I dont think that it is a cactus though. It is a succulent.

Excellent, Acuity.

The sharply defined flies work really well with the soft focus background. A lot more could be said but that takes away from just enjoying it on your own. It all comes down to a very nice image.
