Whoa Nelly...we woke up in the wee hours of the morning to a lovely rain accompanied by a fresh northwest wind...Martillo will be very happy to have a bath and for some new grass! Looks like it might rain for a bit....fossil valley will uncover new treasures.

Wow! Isn't the average rainfall mid-peninsula only around 3 inches a year? Amazing how the plant/animal life survives on that.

Looks like we'll be getting your storm on Saturday, according to the forecast.

Hey Shari-

I saw that rain was predicted for the area (with heavy rain expected on Friday) but didn't believe it. Keep us posted on the rain totals.

Will this have a big impact on the road conditions? We have decided to cross in Mexicali and travel to San Filepe first. There is a road from San F. to a place called Puertocito. it is a dirt road and i am curious if rain will be a problem. Again, we are leaving Friday mid day if anyone wants to caravan.

Yes, please keep us informed. This is the first rain since we bought the house and wish we were there!

Sure hope the elephant trees bloom again---so pretty.

Mexwest, Bahia Asuncion is not anywhere near San Felipe. Don't know what the weather is like up there.

The road from San Felipe to Puertocitos is paved most of the way now. It is dirt, however south of there----

Good pavement all the way to Puertocitos, but the pavement stops there, really rough going after that to Gonzaga Bay.

I will let everyone know how it goes.

mexwest - 11-28-2007 at 10:43 AM

We are going to try the road South of Puertocitos and make our way to Loreto.

It's a helluva road on tires and kidneys, but any rain will not be a factor.

Have good tires, a good spare and bring Spare Air; although sidewall damage is the most common malady.

Count on six hours off road if you want to get back to the One. Not much on accomodation, particularly if you travel with a pet, we found out in April.

It rained off and on all day on Wednesday but never really heavy..the stuff that makes the arroyos run...it just smoothed out the washboard and the road was graded as well. Sirena said it was raining in Guerrero Negro yesterday and today but we only had cloud cover today...we'll see what tomorrow brings.
