We are heading down tomorrow. First stop San Felipe then down to Mulege,Loreto and beyond. Does anyone know of an emergency number for Baja. We will
have a sat phone. Might come in handy if there is any trouble, that and my firemans axe.

I think 060 is pretty much the equivalent of 911 is the USA.
This is from the Telnor phone book:
Police 060
Red Cross 066
Fire Dept 068
Bi-National Crisis Line 075

From a satellite phone I think you would have to dial the country code (52 for Mexico) plus the local area code to use those numbers.

Thank you.

Check out www.sanfelipe.com.mx. under the NEWS. They report 078 for Tourist Assistance and 060 for a Police Dispatcher.
They have these phone numbers posted there, but like BajaLou mentioned, there may be additional numbers to be added for a U.S. phone roaming on TelCel
or a TelCel phone originated on Mexico.
I'd like to know this information also.
I wonder if anyone would actually answer the phone to either one of these numbers...?

I called 066 in la paz when chino had a machete, and that's what is noted for emergencys of seguridad on signs here. They answered immediately and
arrived in about 3 minutes and were ready for action.
You need to be very clear, speak slowly with a description of the problem and location. You might want to practice in spanish.

From here in the Ensenada arear on our US cell phone we can dial any of these 3 digits numbers directly...we can also dial local numbers just by the
last 7 digits. We have Verizon on the North American Plan.
With a sat phone; don't know -- I'd get here and try it.
