Mother-in-laws trip to San Quintin

Ensenada Hotel---any idea where this is? John can't believe his father actually paid for this---maybe she was there with someone else?

Father-in-law had labelled this "Ruins near San Quintin" Any ideas??

i just get a kick out of these. especially, the rocks in front and behind the emergency vehicle tires. to this day, i keep a block of wood behind the seat of my pick-up. old habits die-hard.

sorry i can't help on the locations.

That's great Diane... keep 'em coming!

The new pavement scene north of San Quintin (you can see the volcanoes in the background) is great... 1970 it was paved to about the Col. Guerrero area.... it took them 3 years more just to get to El Rosario. In the same time ('70-'73) the Baja Sur crews heading north, got the pavement from Cd. Constitucion all the way to Santa Rosalia and half way to San Ignacio!

Great Pics--love the ones of building the highway--any more of those? Those old Cruz Roja cars are classic.

Few More

There were not too many slides from this trip----some may have found that dang shredder---we should have disabled it when we were there.

But, here are a few more and then I will work on the ones from their camper trip in trip after the highway was completed.

The viewing are for La Bufadora near Ensenada

I am pleased that the slides scan better than I expected---I posted this one on the other thread but it got a little lost in the fun with the pig pictures.

Does anyone recognize this school? It was taken on John's trip in 1970 and he thinks it was up a canyon just north of Santo Tomas

I really wish we had the slides from that trip because they went to Bahia de Gonzaga and north on the old road to San Felipe.

Diane--the topography around the school reminds me more of the main highway as it comes down the San Rafael drainage into Colonet. Just a guess.

These pictures are so much fun, Diane. Always very cool for me to see photos of Baja taken before I was there. Thanks for saving them from the shredder and for taking the time to scan and post them here.
