Cabo and back

Just got back from our trip. Total miles logged were 3,500. It was a great trip with not a single problem. We didn't even have to pay a single mordida. The only real excitement was an 18 wheeler exploding right above the Cabo Surf Hotel at 1:00 AM. Other than that everything was great. There were even nice waves in cabo. We did stay at the Baja Cactus Hotel in El Rosario which was a real treat. Great rooms and a great price. Thanks for the tip!

On the way down we traveled along the Sea of Cortez mostly and on the way back we went on the 1 all the way to Tecate. We traveled up until about 4:30 or 5:00 every day and stayed where we could. We did discover a nice hotel in Loreto called the Loreto Plaza Hotel (i think). It was affordable and nice. We stayed there one the way down and the way back.

Not much else to report. Let me know if anyone has any questions.

We were gone for 10 days. I think the highlight was the dirt road from Puertocitos down. It was slow going but very scenic. Also, the road from Mulege to Loreto. We stopped every evening around 4:30 or 5:00. We didn't put ourselves in a position to get into any trouble. I think my new favorite town in Mexico is Todos Santos, then again, every time I go to Mexico I have a new favorite town.

We also traveled in two vehicles with hand held radios. That made it a lot easier to communicate stops and passing on those harsh roads. I definitely recommend radios with 2 or more vehicles.

The surf was actually pretty good. We stayed at the Cabo Surf and the people that worked there said that they had never seen such good waves this time of year. There were some sets that were head high.

The instructor there was taking people to Todos the same day and said that they were only 1-2 feet. He said that they were much better where we were. Zippers was pretty good too. There were about 5 people in the water with waist to head high sets.

As we got closer to Ensenada it looked like the waves were getting much bigger. It was also rainy and nasty out.
