La Purisima

baja Steve - 12-15-2007 at 06:25 AM

La purisima now has a bead and breakfast. A retired college professor from the university in La Paz has opened one at his home. They have three rooms that are really nice. We were the first customers according to him and his wife and were charged $15.00 per room. We had dinner down the street with the owner and the total bill came to $13.50 for 5 of us. The location is just past the plaza one block on the left side. Still old Baja prices.

Good information!

Steve, how has your trip been otherwise?

edit to add....the last time we were in La Purisma the only place open at night to eat was a hot dog stand next to one of the tiendas. We stayed in what looked like a new "to be" motel on the way out of town. We spent the afternoon watching all the goat farmers bring their goats in to be loaded onto a trailer. There was one guy doing the counting. Unfortunately, he was also getting loaded(on Tecate) and kept losing count. Those poor goats were worn out before the truck ever left.

La Purisima would be an exellent out-of-the-way place to find comfortable accomodations in. Thanks for the info!

We hope to get to La Purisima this year. Has anyone driven the road from Canipole, near San Nicolas, to San Isidro and LP this year?

What's happening with Jim Dandy in La Purisma?

He was given Graham Mackintosh's burro 'Mision' after Graham's second book adventure, 10 years ago...

The road from Hy 1 is rough and takes about three hours. Capt Mike I wont be back in Mulege until about the 16th of Jan.

BajaJudy
I am in La Paz now and will be heading your way I hope on Wed and then back to La Paz on thur. The trip was great but wet, we were able to work with all the boarding schools, ranches and fish camps. The best surprise was when I met the Mexican couple in La Purisima with the B&B. The how shower was welcome.
