Been a while since I've been there - and it doesn't perfectly resemble the area that I remember.... but would those be blocks of onyx from El Marmol?
- and therefore maybe in the Municipio of Ensenada?

Cool, but not El Marmol... (no cardons at Marmol), I am guessing El Marmolito (between Nuevo Rosarito and Villa Jesus Maria, off the old road) and
that narrow pass may be the one leading out to the coast by San Andres (Alejandro's)??
Another onyx mine is San Telmo (Cerro Blanco) between Cataviņa and Punta San Jose that would have heavy cardon growth like that...
I hope Neal Johns has an idea, or any other Nomad who may have been to those two other onyx mines.
