As 2007 draws to a close I am happy to announce positive changes concerning
the future of American Honda's Off Road Racing team structure and
management of our Pay-for-Pit program.
American Honda is proud to have established such a great pit support
program in the SCORE Baja race events along with its current historic
eleven consecutive overall Baja 1000 overall victories. In 2008 Honda will
provide support to an outside company, a new California corporation, Johnny
Campbell Racing (JCR). JCR will become a Honda satellite race team, much
like "Factory Connection" or "Erion Racing" from our MX and Road Race
programs, with outside sponsors, operational facilities and staff not "on
campus" at Honda corporate offices. JCR president and CEO is Baja Champion
Johnny Campbell. Honda and JCR have entered into a multi-year agreement,
initially with JCR priorities being to sucessfully compete in both SCORE
and WORCS series events as well as continuation of the "Pay-for-Pit"
program supporting Honda customers in all 3 Baja SCORE events. Honda will
loan JCR all useful pit equipment items such as dump cans, spare parts
kits, spare wheels, headlights, radios, bike stands, banners, gas pumps,
ATV wheels, etc to aid in continued success of this program. Effective date
of the transfer will be January 1, 2008. There will be some cross-over/
overlap as Honda & JCR transition into this new format. JCR has yet to
secure a building so I'm unable to provide you complete information, but
will forward it as it becomes available. Honda will be shut down for its
usual Holiday break in late December.
JCR will campaign entirely on CRF 450 X (SCORE/Baja series) and CRF 450 R
(WORCS series) models. Support in 2008 Pay-for-Pit programs will follow
the CRF 450 X direction. JCR will continue to pit for XR650R teams but
without the depth of parts previously stocked in each pit location.
We (Honda) will have a liquidation of XR650R pit supplies, wheels and
left-over pit parts on a first-come, first-serve, cash-only basis. Items
are priced to move quickly. (see 2008 Jan Sale attachment for sample of
pricing and items.....many items are not listed) ONE DAY ONLY....Saturday
January 12th, 2008, from 09:00 to 14:00 at our Pro Logis offsite warehouse
located at 19988 Van Ness, Torrance CA 90501. Enter from the back (loading
dock side) of the building. CASH ONLY......ALL SALES FINAL.
