Diving at El Zorro near Santiago

Yesterday on our sailing trip there was a young man in one of those head contraptions that keeps your head from moving. I asked him what had happened to him.
He had been at the waterfalls at El Zorro and as he had many times before dove into the water. He had looked at the rocks aroung the pool and noticed that the water level was higher and thought that meant that the water was deeper. In fact, it meant that the rains last year had deposited so much sand in the pool that the water level had risen.
He told a horrifying story of his companions building a stretcher to get him out and how one lady with them was almost injured as well. He admitted that he was very lucky to be alive.
I know that a lot of Nomads go to this canyon and decided that I should warn people not to dive.
There is a lady Nomad who has a house near Santiago, if anyone knows her please advise her of this as she has mentioned several times about hiking up there to the waterfalls.
