Dr Tom,
Potrero County Park is the closest. If you're approaching Tecate on 94 from the west, go past the Tecate turnoff and after you crest the grade you
will be in Potrero. The turnoff to the park is on your left and is clearly marked. They have about 40 spaces and are normally available this time of
year. There is a cafe in Potrero and that's about it for services. It's within 15 minutes of the border crossing. Enjoy your trip!

I thought they were burned out in the last fires. Maybe not.tripledigitken - 1-2-2008 at 02:16 PM

Not according to the County's website. I would have called but they don't have a posted phone number.

I called and got a recording and they didn't state that they're closed. Call 877/565-3600 M-F 8-5, for reservation. or www.sdparks.org open 9:30 am to sunsetcapt. mike - 1-4-2008 at 06:37 AM

I would love an update on Potrero County Park from anyone that has stayed there this year.... (Dr Tom if you stay please let me know how it is if you
happen to post after you get accross the border)We will be headed to Baja in about 2 weeks and have never crossed at Tecate and never stayed anywhere
near there.
(Usually hotel in San Diego but we have our Lance Camper and will be towing our boat so dont mind camping) Does it seem like a safe campground.bancoduo - 1-4-2008 at 10:53 PM
Potrero is live and waiting for you.DENNIS - 1-5-2008 at 07:35 AM
I think there's a KOA in Tecate, Mex, ten or so miles out of town. Google it.DENNIS - 1-5-2008 at 10:25 AM

I think that's up around San Francisco. Portrero is in San Diego.. Might make a difference in research.
