BajaNomad

When will you be in BCS? for a get together*1st date set!!!

bajajudy - 1-2-2008 at 11:53 AM

Osprey and I have been discussing a southern Nomad get together so I thought we should start with a poll to find out when the most people would be here.
At this point we are talking about an afternoon affair here at my house just outside of San Jose del Cabo.
If you will be in BCS, please vote
If not, pobrecito, but please dont vote...thanx

I just thought of something. If you will be here for more than one month, either vote more than once or reply saying which months.

Marie-Rose - 1-2-2008 at 12:19 PM

Judy... wouldn't let me vote twice. I voted for January but will be leaving the 19th and then be back again mid March. What a great idea. Hope Fred and I can make it!

BajaRob - 1-2-2008 at 04:32 PM

WE will depart San Felipe on January 27th with stops at El Rosario, San Ignacio, Mulege, and La Paz in route to the Laguna area of San Jose del Cabo. We have rented a house there until February 5th. There will be about 30 of us for Jimmy Joe's golf tourney. We are non golfers and will be doing day trips to Cabo, Todos Santos, etc. Although I chartered my boat out of La Paz for 2 years this will be the first time driving the milk run.

Al G - 1-2-2008 at 05:15 PM

Voted in Feb...will be there before the tenth, but I will be there for ??? through May...depending on FM3

Kate,

Good call on the driving in daylight ...... I will vote for May also.

Al G - 1-2-2008 at 06:22 PM

Driving time may be important, but it need to be considered of the many more events in the month of May? Maybe nothing is happening in May? Are there not big fish tourneys in May??

Shimmer - 1-2-2008 at 06:38 PM

We are here full time all the time......but leaving for a trip north 2/20-3/7. Spring does have more light. Great idea.

bajajudy - 1-2-2008 at 06:41 PM

May was Osprey's idea when we first spoke.
Lets see how this plays:dudette:

Paula - 1-2-2008 at 11:06 PM

Just voted for May. We live here, but have times away in Jan, Feb, and Mar. Like Kate's thoughts about daylight in May, and trust Osprey's instincts. Nice time for a party!

windgrrl - 1-3-2008 at 04:46 PM

(Hoping for wind in) January gets my vote!

vandenberg - 1-3-2008 at 06:38 PM

Judy,
Maybe time to make friends with this Washington fellah.:?:

Maybe talk him into having this get together on his floating castle.:(

Just a thought.

Voted for May BTW. More daylight to get back to the El Moro before dark.:P

Natalie Ann - 1-3-2008 at 06:44 PM

Judy and Osprey.... I'm one of the February crowd, but if the party is in May then I will simply have to return at that time. Looking forward to partying with y'all.

Nena

Eli - 1-4-2008 at 02:43 PM

I plan to be here thru June, although I think March and April are going to be pretty busy for me with Shakespeare and Art classes going on here in Los Barriles at that time. Still, if you throw it, I will sure try to find a way to come. Hasta entonces, Sara

oldjack - 1-4-2008 at 02:59 PM

Gathering is a great idea.... for those of us that might need to drive some varied distances to "participate" maybe a posting of available hotel accomodations that might save some late night highway bumper pool.... once the date is finalized sharing a taxi ride to/from might be a great incentative to attend.... I am in Los Barriles... but would not consider driving back late evening with possible alcohol impaired vision....(there is no brain to slow down)

Acuity - 1-4-2008 at 04:07 PM

Here until End of March - hope we get get a date that works!

leaving today

tortuga - 1-4-2008 at 06:19 PM

Judy ,
Let's see if I leave today , I'm figuring 100 yds per day . I think I can make it in February some time !:biggrin::biggrin:

Tortuga

Al G - 1-4-2008 at 06:56 PM

Judy...if there is a beach camp area near you I will bring my Motorhome and a couple Single Nomads can stay with me. Some could tent camp near too..

capt. mike - 1-5-2008 at 06:27 AM

gonna be all over east cape during mid marzo. and based in mulege as well.

amir - 1-5-2008 at 10:21 PM

We live full time in Todos Santos, so any time may work for us (except normal office hours).
Actually, since there seems to be no concensus in the poll so far, we might have to get together more than once to meet everyone!

What do Nomads do when they get together?
Maybe I will bring my portable adjusting table...

JESSE - 1-6-2008 at 04:16 AM

I am in La Paz ready to go.

Bajalover - 1-6-2008 at 05:09 PM

After reading about all the fixing up the security dept of Baja is doing, May sounds like a perfect time to visit BCS. WHERE will the getogether be??? Need time to get ready - after all it's only a couple of months away. Only fooling. I'd really like to attend. When will more info be sent out?????
Hope everyone had a good New Year.............;););)

OF COURSE!

It never crossed my mind that this would be for profit. :o

When I volunteer to bring my table to a PARTY, I have never charged.
It will be my pleasure to straighten you all out, for free. :bounce::bounce::bounce:

RIGHT!!!!

My wife has been trying to straighten me out for over 30 years without success.

vandenberg - 1-7-2008 at 01:57 PM

Well Amir.
Hope you have a reinforced table and that you can imbibe while working, since I may take a few hours to get straightened out.
According to my wife it can't be done.:(

And Judy, made any headway in determining when this event is going to take place ?

bajajudy - 1-9-2008 at 12:23 PM

I was hoping for more input
We can do two. One in Feb and one in May.

bajajudy - 1-9-2008 at 05:51 PM

How does that sound?
It is a sunday and at my house.
We thought we would have a brunch. Start at 10, brunch between 11 and 12.
Covered dish, byob and byo chair and if there are more than two of you byo table
Please u2u me what you will be bringing or you can post here.

I will make a couple of fajitas.....quiche with potato crust.
Osprey is talking Bloody Marias.
So lets get the menu together and have some fun.

To get to my house you follow the signs to Puerto Los Cabos. After you cross the arroyo between San Jose and La Playita, start looking to your left. You will see a tower with LIBROS BOOKS on the side of it.....
If anyone would like the phone number here for backup, please u2u me.

bajajudy - 1-9-2008 at 05:56 PM

All sounds perfect except the date. Company from Montana leaves that day. Could come the 26th or later.

capt. mike - 1-10-2008 at 06:14 AM

is that mutt driving in england land??:lol:

BMG - 1-10-2008 at 10:48 AM

Sounds good to us but will have to confirm later. I've marked it in our calendar and will let you know ASAP.

Hook - 1-10-2008 at 12:07 PM

In terms of accommodating persons other than locals who live close by, the previous weekend would be better for any that might be driving a significant distance and are dependent on traditional US school holidays. Many entities have grouped Lincoln's Birthday and President's Day into a four day holiday the weekend before (Fri-Mon). Assuming they might use a few days before that for the drive down, they could still get back to jobs if the date was, say, the 16th.

I am speaking hypothetically here; I have no plans to attend at this time.

amir - 1-10-2008 at 05:52 PM

We, Amir and Gnome-ad, plan to attend, but will confirm the menu item soon...

Eli - 1-12-2008 at 08:12 PM

Sooooo, Judy, I am in for the adventure and getting out of town for the day, I don't see why I couldn't make it in Feb. I have been thinking about the legistics of my getting to this party and back North to Los Barriles same day. I can catch the 8 a.m. bus to San Jose, and the last one returning from San Jose to L.B. is 6 p.m.

Than there is the possibility of a cab from the bus station? Any idea as to how far, how much they would run from the bus station to your place? I don't suppose there is a urbano bus that runs near your neighborhood. I can easily enough bring a coverd dish, just don't know what yet. I can for sure bring my own chair, I have one of those foldables that has a back strap. What's a byob?

vjfamily - 1-12-2008 at 08:32 PM

Dear Judy, we will not return to BCS until March. Hopefully a tradition has began, we look forward to the 2009 BCS Nomad party. Joanna

What's with all this buses and taxis...?

cabokid - 1-13-2008 at 10:18 PM

Be down mid March to Mid April. Weather is much warmer that time of year for drinking Pacifico.

akbear - 1-14-2008 at 09:39 AM

Hi Eli, I could also give you a ride since I'm in Buena Vista for good now.

I will be talking with you between now & then.

akbear

So far so good

bajajudy - 1-14-2008 at 10:00 AM

Glad that more people are coming. This could be a lot of fun.

I just sent this to Osprey who is helping with this event:

I will furnish a couple of cases of beer and there is a deposito within walking distance if we run out. I will also buy a few bottles of red and white wine. I will make two fritatas...heck I dont know what you call them but I make a potato crust and then put eggs with goodies on that a bake it...as I said a quiche with potato crust. I will probably make one with chorizo and one without. I will get some baguettes from the french bakery, also.

Acuity - 1-14-2008 at 04:13 PM

We hope to come. Will confirm closer to the time.

Marie-Rose - 1-14-2008 at 04:35 PM

Your right Judy... this could be alot of fun:(:(
Wonder if the esposo would be OK with me postponing arrival home till after the
party:rolleyes:

Eli - 1-14-2008 at 11:11 PM

Akbear, thank you for the offer. And even though I know that it would be great riding with Jesse,( I met him once at Lee's in La Paz, he is very kind, intellegent and interesting to talk with). Still, what you say makes sense, and is very practical, after all we are neighbors and you are good company taboot, practically speaking, and that would free Jesse up to bring someone else from La Paz.

Sounds like this is coming together real nice Judy. I am still thinking about what to bring, How about a deep dish Apple Crisp? That is sort of a covered dish, transports easy enough and besides it is something I make well. What do you think?

Byob, oooooohhhhhh, bring your own beverage, it is the simple things that always get me, jeje, a well easy enough.

bajajudy - 1-15-2008 at 07:45 AM

That sounds wonderful!
Something sweet.

bajadock - 1-15-2008 at 08:37 AM

Looking like first and second week of May. I am looking forward to taking it more slowly v. my frantic real estate trek in Sept '06. Hope to meet some southern nomad hospitality. I'll bring beer and wine.
