Wendy Rains..........Are you kidding? That sounds as "Genuine" as Soupy Sales.

bajajudy - 1-8-2008 at 02:06 PM

I think that she means Mexicans, Dennis.

DENNIS - 1-8-2008 at 02:11 PM

Then, the sequel will have to be, "Ungenuine people of interest" to give her marketable objectivity.

Got me?

"People of genuine interest" may have worked better. "Genuine People" is elitist, assuming she can sell her values to others. Who is she to say what's genuine? What is genuine?

'Predictable Designs and Pushy Affected Artists of Mexican Gringo Towns" coming in 2009

DENNIS - 1-8-2008 at 02:39 PM

Now...There is an honest title.

Don Alley - 1-8-2008 at 03:08 PM

And here she is...

To bad guys it looks like all the dates on her calender are filled.:spingrin::spingrin:

bajajudy - 1-8-2008 at 04:35 PM

You guys are a tough audience.

Here is the blurb from our website about the book, which I admit I have not read yet.

What is it like to be a mailman in a town where half the people have no addresses? Imagine the travails of being the town’s only cross-dressing palm tree trimmer? These questions and more prompted Wendy Rains to explore some of the lives of the every day people in her adopted home of Todos Santos.

Originally published as “Encounters of an Underground Milkmaid” in El Calendario from 2004 through 2007, this inspiring collection of interviews reveals much about the charm, humor and dignity of some of the life-long inhabitants of this magical place.

Wendy Rains, Interior and Architectural Designer, lives in the small Baja pueblo of Todos Santos … Wendy (as the Milkmaid) piques the curiosity about the town’s most interesting people; and the popularity of these diverse insights continues to delight many readers from around the world.

What is an Architectural designer? Is that like a Surgery designer?

I have a strong feeling that the minimaly qualified have found a home in BCS, the land of no cultural history or significance.

vgabndo - 1-8-2008 at 04:54 PM

If you'll promise not to tell PJC, I know a young woman named Snow White, and have a good friend named Knight Starr. Both real names. It's OK, we don't all have to be Bob Jones.

Perry Sims

DENNIS - 1-8-2008 at 04:59 PM

Perry Sims. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA That's a good one. C'mon Vag, we know your name.

Fantastic life, Ms. Rains = The Architect, Designer, Multiple Construction Projects Manager, Writer, Citizen, Studio 3 Principle.

Sometimes, I think, somehow people in general are inclined to be more prejudiced against rich super successful people as they against those of lower economic status who are impoverished as evidenced by the initial replies.

I wonder if the reprint of 'genuine people of interest' delves into the inter-relationships highlighting racial inequity among disparate economic stratas, while celebrating the dialectical differences between barrios and educated affected sophisticates who pull the town purse-strings.

Interesting, I imagine the complicated nature of 'The Milkmaid" and her vast relationships while she weaves magical prose accentuating positives of intercultural relationships and the tragedies of those who fall between the cracks society, los viejitos jotos, infirmos y madre solteras.... hmmm.

Riveting! I will attend!

DENNIS - 1-8-2008 at 05:22 PM

Well said.

Thanks banco........

I went through here site and still can't figure out what she does. She doesn't design, she doesn't build and she has no credentials. She claims no degree from an art institute and claims for no credit for the designs or decoration of the houses in her site.
What does she do?

It is about three blocks up from the Malacon.

And I have been reading Wendy´s serialized version of her book for about a year in the Todos Santos Calendario..... very interesting interviews.

Pretty sure it's between Madero and Revolucion. It's on the right side as you're coming from the Malecon, about 3 blocks up as Rob says.

Well its too bad she won't be speaking, or doing a reading. That would've been a chance to hear her 'voice' come through in the work...

At least we know where the book store is. Across the world nice book stores like have ceased to exist. Imagine Bernie coming soon to read, Dennis' poetry readings, and Minnow's autobiography.

DENNIS - 1-9-2008 at 12:18 PM

Just imagine.
