How do you read Baja Nomad Forums?

David K - 3-30-2004 at 10:36 PM

With so many places to post and respond, I was wondering if you all knew about using 'Today's Post' for your daily reading. All boards that got activity in the past 24 hrs. are displayed. That is a lot quicker than hopping to each forum and seeing what's new. Anyway, here's a poll to see how we Nomads read our forums.

Actually, it's easy to see which forums have been active each day from the home page.... that would be via the "Last Post" notation. Click on the arrow and be taken to the last post immediately.

Probably of more value to the majority of visitors here since they haven't stopped by in the last 24 hours -- and aren't interested in every forum/topic/offtopic.

Just side commentary from someone that's familiar with the traffic patterns here....

Okay Doug, you got me... I went to your Home Page and I saw no 'Last Post' icon...
Where is this feature exactly? If I can't find it, possible others are unaware of this feature as well???

Some are of more interest than others but I like to browse thru them all if I have time.

members only

David K- maybe, you should add to your inquire that members only can vote. Save the non-members and bad spellers a hassle.

Members only voting is just like reguistered voters only voting... One person, One vote! Bad spellers? Hey that's me! (English words that is).

Not an icon. It's on the home page of the forums... sorry if I confused you.

The columns showing for each forum are:
-Forum:
-Topics:
-Posts
-Last Post:

I highly doubt that you've missed that.

Click on the arrow "icon" next to the last post noted, and be taken directly there.

Okay Doug... I click on the tiny arrow next to the Last Post listed in the column of Last Posts, on Forums Homepage ... It takes me to that one post... or the bottom of a thread if there's more than one post in a thread. How is that better??? That still requires going to each forum...

Today's Posts takes you to all new activity, on one page. The problem is what about the folks who don't read the forums daily?

So that they don't have to go to each forum seperatly, is there a program available to you that will create a page of: all "New Posts Since Your Last Visit" (I saw this on another forum)?

Thanks for an outstanding job!!!

I didn't say one was better than the other, but was only offering another effective alternative to what you mentioned... and one that would avoid topics/forums that one had no interest in viewing.

I'm not considering upgrading the software at this time. But that could change at any point. I'd have to change "suppliers" as I favor the more recent versions from a competing package.

I've been playing with this other software on these (low/no traffic) sites:
http://forums.ljhsalumni.com
http://forums.socalpub.com

...in case you want to peek at this other software that I'll probably migrate to at some point.
