Does Anyone Remember a TV Show About Baja in the 1960's or 1970's?

Growing up here in San Diego in the 60's and 70's I distinctly remember a 1/2 hour or maybe it was a 1 hour TV program called "Baja by Land, Sea, and Air" ? It featured a married couple and their son (?) going to various locations in Baja by vehicle, boat, or airplane. The son was an adult and assisted his parents in the adventures and filming. Does anyone else remember this TV program? If so, who were the couple and son by name? Any other information or clarification about the show would be appreciated. Thanks

Well, it sounds like the Marv and Aletha Patchen adventures by description and name but I didnt live in SD at the time and cant recall it on TV.

I did live in San Diego at the time, but I don't remember the TV show. Being a pre-teen/teen at the time, my thoughts may have been directed to other things (Although my dad did take me to Baja on surf trips during that time). I do, however, have an old copy of Marv Patchen's Baja guidebook by that same title. If there is video from such a TV show I'd love to see it.

Jeezo....I was all over the penninsula in the 60s and 70s, put together my first place at La Bufadora in 75 but, I can't recall anything like this. If it had anything to do with planes, maybe CaptMike will know. He flew with Sky King and Penny.

actually Sky flew the plane, the Songturd.........while
I spent my time rogering Penny in the cavernous back seat of that old radial Bamboo Bomber. She was a jolly good romp, she was.:cool:
Then he traded it for a 310 and there was damn little room in back for mile high privacy............:O

No older brother... otherwise it would have worked!

I did write and self-publish my first guidebook in 1973 at age 15! I also grew up in San Diego County in the 60's and 70's (Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Escondido) ... born in '57.

I sure would have known about such a show... My dad would have it on, for sure... me too!

Jan Wood had a show on XETV Ch. 6 called 'Tijuana, Window to the South' and even invited me on it in '75. It featured news and stories about the people and places of the border area.

If you do get more details I would be interested, but I sure don't remember it now.

I remember the Jan Woods show. It was fun to watch 'cause it was about the region.

Marv's book came out in '81... No mention that he did a TV show... He sure did everything else, however!

songbird is now based in Novato, Ca. DVO after her 2001 restoration won best in class at Oshkosh, I did the avionics. I've haven't figured out how to post pictures yet but here is a link. http://www.skyking.info/home.html

hey Dravnx - that's way cool - but which one? the 1st or the 310?
there are episodes with both on line to watch. i feed it to my AV system via a media player router and listen/watch it on my home theater via the computer. gotta love D-Link!

when the site was originally put up, I brought it to the attention of songbirds owner. He said he would have it fixed but alas........It was a fun project and it was amazing to watch the detail the restoration shop put into her. Polishing aluminum tubing and engine baffles, painting hardware, etc.

I didn't STUDY this thread, but I don't see a mention of the private detective show shot in Cabo I guess. Was that Lands End?

There was a series based in Cabo San Lucas that featured a retired football player, Fred Somebody [Dwyer?] as a guy called Hunter--I think he was a detective or a policeman.

They had a season or two in Cabo. Someone mentioned the show earlier in this post and I was thinking it was Lorenzo Lamas but was way off. Lorenzo had a show that was shot in San Diego about the same time.

The Land's end show, which I looked up on google, co-starred the guy that was Clint Eastwood's side kick in the "any which was but loose, etc..." movies.
