What to bring to San Pablo or other remote fish camps

shari - 1-19-2008 at 02:34 PM

When you uplan to visit a remote fish camp it is always important to bring peace offerings as you can be sure they will spoil you with whatever they have on hand. Apart from the mandatory cold cerveza, it is wise to bring tortillas, mayonaise, salsa casera, maybe some chocolate treats, soda, and if you really wanna be a big hit....a bottle of Coralejo...these guys had like a quarter inch left in their bottle and offered it to the gringo invaders....love that mexican hospitality!

Shari
One thing that is hard for them keep and always hard to get is fruit and vegies. the other thing is personal hygeine items. the fish buyers charge them very high prices to bring them fishing supplies, flour, rice and beans also. Americans bring them way to much clothes or the wrong clothes for the most part.

I have never met a mexican in a fish camp that didn't need an extra T-shirt. :yes::yes: One for the kids would really be a bonus. :wow::wow:
They usually pick up a few on their trips to Ensenada :O:O when they are between seasons. :bounce::bounce:

;D:yes::wow::lol::):P:P

Are Canadians "Gringos" too?:lol:

Hats are very cool to bring as well as pencils and paper products.

Take these to the camp..

Money, booze, cigars, Camels, .22 long rifle ammo, sporting women, and a deck of cards. You can mix up this order, but I have found over the years in various multinational fish camps that it doesn't much matter. If in Baja.. Spanish copy of "Pompano's Believable Alibis" comes in handy.

when they find out you have all that good stuff, the camp will come to you

Oh yeah, all that stuff is fantastic...they especially like hooded sweat shirts which they wear on the panga to protect them from the sun...but I was thinkin just for a quick day trip...my point being that go in with at least something in hand....

22 long rifle can get you in a mess of trouble if your caught. i was detained for hours one time while the feds took my truck apart looking for a pistol. leave them at home. hard candy is a hit with the kids.
