Loreto Taxi?

Russ - 1-20-2008 at 07:25 PM

My family is coming:o :spingrin: and some (4 adults & 4 kids) will fly into Loreto. Would someone there check there please check on what a van would cost to haul the all out to Chivato? Last time I was there a taxi stand in town had thier prices posted. And they said there were two unions. One at the air port, very expensive and the other, less expensive, in town. Thanks for any info/help, Russ

This is pretty common throughout Mexico at airports and bus stations. One option may be to take a taxi from the airport to town.. then arrange another taxi from there... (I have no idea how much this could/would save you)

In larger towns you can often just cross the street and flag down a city cab, etc..

Also look into the bus as jkruk suggested. Don't look at it as an inconvenience.. look at it as an experience. That would definitely be the cheapest way to go but might be a bit too much of a hassle with 8 people. Then again.. finding a taxi or van to fit 8 people and their luggage might be a bigger hassle.

Good luck and have a great trip.

Russ, What you need is a pick-up. Load all of them in the cab and the excess in the bed and, like a Mexican ,haul burro to your destination.
The only way to save a buck.:(:(
Drive careful.:biggrin::biggrin:

Thank you all for the input so far. I did look into and e-mailed the site "tehag" sent. There will be more family driving down and we could go pick them up but their time is limited here so I'm checking out options.

Russ, I asked about the price to Mulege from a taxi driver in town and he said $120.00. Buses are about $12.00-$14.00 and they play a movie on the way. :biggrin: Mrs. Cypress

Thanks Mrs. Cypress. That's about what I thought. If they could stuff 8 and luggage into one it might be good. But I think I'd be looking at two cabs. The people at the site tehag suggested got back to me and for a 10 passenger van they want $250. I appreciate your work, Russ

Taxi to the bus station and take the bus. It will be an experiance never forgotten.
