No, not the atlas we have had before. Picked this one up in La Paz yesterday. Cost: $13.50 USD in the store. BCN and BCS, good detail of roads,
paved, dirt. Some city maps included. Indexed well. Smaller size than one that is out of print.

Sure is David. Not as good as the other, but does show good info. We got the old unavailable Atlas spiral bound and laminated covers to protect it.
Cost $3.50 USD here in La Paz Have picked up some great topo maps at INEGI here and yesterday got digial ones at the same office (the big maps are
blown all over in the winds). Anyway, you can get each of the cuadras (big 1:50000) in digital form, many on a single CD. Zoom all over on the
computer, in and out, and cut out that portion you want and print it in 8 1/2 X 11 usable sheet. Much nicer and we're planning some hiking and
exploring trips now. Hope to get to San Hilario soon (La Paz Mission Garden). I see the web site charges $20 for the Atlas...should have driven down

Any Nomads considering it should understand that it, in no way is a topographic map book like the original Baja Atlas or newer Baja Almanac. It
doesn't even show arroyos (rivers/ stream beds/ dry washes). It looks nice, but the detail for off road exploring is not there. El Marmol and the

Just to be clear, the map book is nice looking and I think it is fine for general use... something we Baja book and map collectors would want to have.

Bernardo...I believe it was Papelaria Agruel on Prieto, or across the street at the copy place.
Since the Baja Almanac is not available you have few choices. In spite of some dirt roads not shown, it does show the new paved road from Punta
Pescadero to Los Barriles, for example, that is not shown in the Baja Almanac. Today we drove the coast road from Los Planes to Los Barilles and the
Atlas fit quite well (we have all editions of the Almanac too).

Watch out for those arroyos during a rain storm. They'll carry your Chevy Chevette away in a heartbeat!

Steve bought one of those atlases at a little store near the Migra office, for 120 pesos. I'd say it's an adequate guide to Highway One and other
major roads, for people who don't intend to stray very far off them.
The accommodations indicated with little symbols aren't to be trusted, though. The marina at Santa Rosalillita is not operative, and other ports are
credited with more amenities than you actually find at them..
City maps were apparently based ib the number of advertisers who bought space in the atlas. Maps for cities of the north are large and detailed, and
the southern tip fares equally well. La Paz gets nothing but a dinky little inset.
Laguna Chapala and some smaller "lakes" are blue and give the impression of having water in them. Oh well, that sometimes happens.

Thank you, Jack. I got a couple of inexpensive and really useful histories by Carlos Lazcano, but they're 8 x 11, glued together lightly, and are
already fallling apart. That place sounds like it could do a makeover.
