For as long as I can remember, well seven years anyway, we have used the Hotel Gardenias when in La Paz. It had that great gated court yard parking
at night and was super quiet up in the residential area- yet just three blocks from the Malecon. And a room was $350-400 pesos. Well it is now the
Hacienda Bugambilias- all new fancy remodeled rooms and furniture, WiFi (in the lobby and pool area anyway), a very good inhouse restaurant AND of
course new prices....$650- 700 pesos. The new bar in the courtyard will soon be open, and there is a BBQ pit there as well.
I had a weeks trip to the mainland last week, and they kept my car there at no charge, and found me a good deal on a taxi to the airport.
Lots of big plans and lots of big prices...we will see what we will see- RIP Hotel Gardenias-

Thanks for the update. Looks like some nice upgrades on the hotel. Rising prices are like death and taxes. At least they are giving you a nicer room
and more amenities for the extra money.fdt - 1-24-2008 at 09:52 PM
Just some more history to add to it. I think it was a hospital before a hotel.Leo - 1-25-2008 at 09:11 AM
We used to stay there a lot because of its location and the right price. Excellent spot to attend La Paz Carnival, yet close to the parade and out of
the noise level. Was wondering how long that deal would last. Still not a bad price considdering the upgrades. I am sure this won't be the last price
hike.Natalie Ann - 1-25-2008 at 09:32 AM
Good grief! My old 'same place to stay' is the same no more! Should have expected this when they upgraded to new mattresses, pillows and bed linens.
Was one of the last excellent bargains in La Paz.
Looks real pretty, the new place... and wi-fi, too.
I'm wondering, CasaManzana... is breakfast now any better than the scrambled eggs and hot dogs from the past?

Can you get the hot dogs wrapped with bacon?

Hi NAT-AN and Trip-Dig....dough no about anything but the
huevos rancheros and OJ...both really well done. I asked about the "cook" and was informed the "chef" was not here yet for the night time
meals...guess he needs his beauty rest Because of the great parking arrangement
and the squeaky clean rooms, I will return this weekend even though I said I will not spend this kind of $ for a room
