San Quintin "fresh shrimp"

TonyC - 1-25-2008 at 10:27 AM

Saw pics. from Rancho Cielito Lindo of a place south of the Pabellon RV park that sells live shrimp. Is it still there, or was I looking at dated pics?

I'm heading down to San Quintin next month to fish a few days, and would like to buy some shrimp also. I found a place just north of El Socorro that sells Pismo clams (cleaned), and would sure like to have a hook up for shrimp.

Total newbie to the Baja north. Have not broke my cherry on Baja South. Thank you guys for this site, makes it easier to learn.

Hi Tony

We were just there 2 times in De. and Jan.
We always stop at CL for the shrimp and the cracked crab
The crab isn't as good as when Juanita owned it but its still good
Full hookups are $5 a night
Theres real nice rooms to rent there too and its good to see them
improving the grounds there
If they don't have shrimp there...They will definately point you in the right
direction
Have fun...Lots of other places to check out too

Have not tryed the shrimp in CL, but had the crab. I'm for sure going to CL to try the shrimp, and for that matter have more crab too. I love it down there, and your right there's so much to check out.

My wife and I bought a house in El Socorro that we split with my sister and her husband. Nice helpful people there, just need to speak and understand spanish better.

Thank you Tim.

Last year when we were in Mulege there were four shrimp boats anchored, took the baot out and bought several kilo's, muy bueno when they are that fresh.

Yah, great shrimp in Nov. in Mulege. Tony, live shrimp? Wow, I like to see those. You will love BCS and the prawns there.

Muchas gracias mi compadres, y comadres de Baja Nomad. How about it, was my spainsh correct? My wife says that after a few cervezas my spanish is more pigeon spanish. I'm trying, but the freaken conjugations, stem changing, irregular verbs are killing me. I'm having fun though.

In the early fiftys my Dad would drive us down to Ensanada in his '48 coupe. There he would buy a milk bucket full of shrimp for about five dollars.... When we got back to San Diego my Mom would fry those up in her killer beer batter !!!
I have never since had shrimp that good, those were the days my friend . :wow:

Fresh shrimp? They freeze 'em on the boats and sell 'em for $14/kilo. :( Sorta makes me lose my taste for shrimp.

Heck, someone must know here. Cielito Lindo and Pabellon have been mentioned many times. Sounds like a great enterprise if they can control the ammonia discharge.

That is a fresh shrimp farm you are talking about.

Keri - 1-27-2008 at 01:36 AM

Yes they were still there when we were down in November. The Cielito Lindo shrimp feast was fantastic. k:yes:

So, to state the question again,

Very close: "mis" compadres... If you had spoken this, no one would know the difference.

Thank you for the correction.

CaboRon,

Don't know if you were serious, but :!:, means "Caution with an emphasis"

Timo1, are you saying that CL is actually in the process of upgrading their rooms? That would be sorely needed.
