Where do they have square toilets?

bajadock - 1-25-2008 at 07:23 PM

Next to the stand where square tamales are sold?
Sorry Ken, I know you were attempting a stimulating intellectual geography discussion here.
What the heck is that mini-urinal/TP cozie/medicine cabinet adjacent to the "#2" star?

I don't know but it looks a bit uncomfortable for reading.

I want a square toilet,

BMG - 1-25-2008 at 07:25 PM

but only if they have them in the small size:

I don't know Ken, but where ever they are they sure are clean! I wonder if they have square paper seat covers as well?

P<*)))><

El pais de "Burros" cuadrado :?::?::?:

Sharksbaja - 1-25-2008 at 07:35 PM

Maybe on Wall St.? They all have squared butts there!

Ken Bondy - 1-25-2008 at 07:40 PM

Hint: South of Santa Rosalia, north of Loreto.

Paulina - 1-25-2008 at 07:42 PM

Ladies room and the mens room?

OK, no guesses so far and I am really curious---except it won't count unless you check out both. :tumble:

OK it was not in a public bathroom, men or women. It was in a hotel room.

We have stayed where there was no toilet seat, and in Guadalajara where we stayed a few times, they had hot water in the toilet, but never a square toilet---wonder where they bought it.

Al G - 1-26-2008 at 11:29 AM

I don't know, but sure looks like an outhouse design I am familiar with...

Ken Bondy - 1-26-2008 at 11:33 AM

Before the suspense gets to everybody I better cough up the answer. These are in the rooms at the refurbished Hotel Punta Chivato (Posada de las Flores). I have not exactly led a sheltered life, but I've never seen this before. The style is European (flush knob on top), and the owners are (were) Italian, but even in Italy I don't recall seeing any square or rectangular toilet seats. I would have remembered

capt. mike - 1-26-2008 at 12:34 PM

sort of gives new meaning as to if you can put a round peg into a sguare hole.

Roberto - 1-26-2008 at 12:46 PM

Nope, not Italian, I can attest to that. Methinks they must be German.:lol::lol::lol:

On second thought, they COULD be Italian, but they would have to be from Milano. Nobody south would ever come up with something like that.:lol::lol::lol:

Wonder how many will get the inside joke? Aldo, Max?

tripledigitken - 1-26-2008 at 12:57 PM

Now I know why no one ever stays there.

Roberto - 1-26-2008 at 01:03 PM

This is too funny (probably have to be there).

Check this out:

Very stylish, don't you think? This is manufactured by a company called Duravit.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Stereotypes exist for a reason.:lol::lol::lol:

P.S. I would have guessed La Posada in La Paz, though I never saw one there it would fit the "ambience".

I knew it was closed/taken over by ???? Are those the buildings in the background? I will miss it too. It's the place I stayed with my family on our first trip to the tip about 15 years ago. Kids were still "kids", we stayed in a Casita in the month of July.

Can you tell me what exactly happened there?

Square "Benjo"

RonnieRockCod - 1-26-2008 at 07:13 PM

Ken, I would guess Japan. Traditional hotels in Japan had traditional Japanese toilets which consisted of an oblong opening in the floor and was accessed by hunkering down in a squating position.

While in the Navy yard in Yokosuka it was not unusual to see the Japanese workmen with their feet firmly implanted on the seat. Thus, with the large, square, toilet seat deplicted in your post, the seat could easily accomadate a Japanese person, male or female. Incidentally, the device seen to the viewer's left of the toilet could easily be a fold down bidet.

Since this is a Baja forum I would surmise your question deals with Baja. But, you did not specify. My answer can be easily contested as I haven't been to Japan for about thirty nine years.

Good luck to all. RRC.

Skipjack Joe - 1-26-2008 at 07:44 PM

My question is, does the water drain in a circular manner when the water is flushed in that toilet? Probably not. So the design is inferior.

Oh, ... and the acoustics are probably not as good either.

Sallysouth - 1-26-2008 at 10:12 PM

I bet the plumber just loved that project!!(not)!~!:P

bajalera - 1-27-2008 at 10:40 PM

Do people who are seriously constipated eventually end up with a square butt?

Are you talking about La Posada de englebert

Keri - 1-27-2008 at 10:46 PM

later changed to Hacienda del sol or something like that. . Please tell me no , that was one of my favorite places to stay in La Paz.k
