Usually X at San Ysidro and then take the tourist toll road but am thinking about trying the Otay crossing and then taking the new 2000 road over to
the toll road. Not towing. traveling during the day so not too worried about crime but will need to stop for a tourist card.
pros-cons suggestions?

WE LOVE IT; just don't miss the turn off! If you cross through OM stay in the right-hand lane. There will be a turn off as you are ON an overpass
(not unlike SY and trying to get onto the Toll/Scenic Road) but this only has the equivalent of residential street sign saying BELLAS ARTES. Do no
miss this right-hand exit or you'll end up on Blvd Industrial which is under complete reconstruction with major delays....so you get onto Bellas Artes
headed east....go to the first street (at a stop light) with one way traffic going to your right....and take that right hand turn. Go to the next
LIGHT (Not stop sign) and turn left...now you are back on Blvd Industrial but past the construction mas o menos.... Stay on that road following signs
to the Tecate Cuota....and then there is one exit that will say Rosarito/Ensenada, just before the toll booth for the Tecate Cuota...TAKE THAT EXIT!
Then, just follow that road along paying attention to the speed limit signs through the somewhat developed area...then you hit the BLVD 2000. No
signs; you just end up on it...Now you can take it up to 70 mph; watch for livestock and dogs....in 20-30 mins you are in Popotla on the free road.

its harder to get a tourist card at otay
if you need a card i'd go to San Ysidro
much easier

How long will you be south of the border?

Blvd 2000 in the daytime is a great option. Don't do it at night. It is a bit longer, but the scenery more than makes up for it. You'll see
hillsides with thousands of 200 square meter lots chalked off ready for devlopment and power lines ready for wires (unless they had the wires and
someone stole them already). enjoy! It looks like orange county twenty five years ago..;

Don't mind the death bodies on the side of the road,That Blv, has become a favorite dump site.Plan ahead so you don't have to drive at night,at night
is no-mans land, very spooky, i did once I wont do it again, very stupid of me..
