Don Alley - 2-3-2008 at 10:42 PM

Loreto has elected a new municipal presidente.

Yuan Yee of the PRD/PT/Convergencia parties.

Big parade of cars on the malecon. Honk Honk! Love the enthusiasm.

And I thought there were a surprising number of Giants fans in Loreto.

And to Think, that His Grandfather was the First person of Chinese to become a Natrualize Citizen of Mexico in the year of 1935.!!

His family has done well and are important People in Mulege, Loreto, Constitution, and La Paz.

"Chino Yee" of Loreto was a Great Amatuer Boxer in Loreto many years ago.

Methinks he will do Well in La Paz as the Presidente.

And Yuan's mother is a Cunningham, pronounced "Cooningham."

Yuan defeated Servando Davis Davis (DAH-vis), and is the first non-Davis mayor in a while.

We heard the first car horns after the Giants ran off the last second. Walked to the campaign headquarters, then to the impromptu parade on the malecon, and after 11 pm the winning candidates (including deputado Paco Rubio) made an appearance at the plaza. A pretty wild night, nothing like it in local US politics.

It will be interesting to see what changes. Employment will certainly change. There will be hundreds of new municipal employees.

In fact, PRD/PT did well all up and down the Baja. La Paz was won too as I understand and in Santa Rosalia, we have Che Murillo as Presidente and Guille Santillan as Disputado. This will make a big difference up here cause Agundez and the old Presidente were rivals and Santa Rosalia got the short end of the stick. Now it looks like things should go smoother. Almost as much fun as the Super Bowl.
