Skeet's "Capitals"

motoged - 2-6-2008 at 05:56 PM

Skeet,
It is interesting to read some of your posts.

Was wondering, though.....how do you decide which words to capitalize??

Do they have special importance in each post or am I reading into it too much?:?:

A curious mind wants to know.

DENNIS - 2-6-2008 at 06:01 PM

Skeet is a free spirit...makes his own rules. Gotta luvit.

DanO - 2-6-2008 at 06:08 PM

Special keyboard with random capital generator.

gibson - 2-6-2008 at 07:25 PM

Could This Fall Under "TEXAS CAPITAL PUNISHMENT?"

I think the basics were taught in grammar school, and advanced capitalization in Junior High ( note the capitalization).

bajadave1 - 2-7-2008 at 06:09 AM

I think DanO, has the inside track.

Must be slow on the Board this Morning!
Time to Jump on "Ole Skeet" again.

Bring it On!!!

Rote Memorization!! Habit?? Too Old to Change??

I am inclined to think that as I was going through College in my Report Writing Classes I was Taught to use Capitals to bring attention to the Reader especially for "Capital Murderers in Texas". Would be better if California would "Fry a Few More each Year"!

Would YouALL beleive that I got a Blue Ribbon in Second Grade for "Spelling".
Also Selected as "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities"" 1957!!

I know, I know it is hard to beleive an ex Hobo, Cowboy, Logger, Towbar Jockey, Cantalope Inspector, Wine Grape Inspector, Tomato Inspector, Truck Driver, Aviation Accident Investigator, Private Investigator,House Detective, Snap-On Tool Dealer, Pilot with 6,000 Hours, Rental Property Investments, Calif.Texas, Montana, Wa. Arizona, and last but not least Baja Calif, Sur, Sea of Cortez Fisherman for 27 years{Panga Owner and Operator} would ever end up in the Great State of Texas with a Beautifull Wife, 2 Horses, 2 Cats, two Dogs??????

And best of all no DOPE in my Life.

Maybe that if I had learned to spell better and not do so many "CAPITALS" iI could have been a Success in Life!!

It is a Great Day in Texas, 25 Degrees, Sunshine, light Bresse, and good company on this Board.

GOD BLESS YOUALL

Talk about " career " changes.:(:no::biggrin:

Oso - 2-7-2008 at 10:05 AM

e.e. cummings never used capitals. Victor Hugo and Thomas Wolfe used lots of commas and filled whole pages with one sentence. Hemmingway was renowned for short, clear sentences.

It's all a matter of style and Skeet's is definitely unique.

wilderone - 2-7-2008 at 10:12 AM

Can't you keep a job, Skeet?
HUGS!

DianaT - 2-7-2008 at 10:26 AM

Change in jobs, careers, living spaces, etc. is good, IMHO---keeps the brain from going moldy.:yes:

Skeet--------Multiple jobs???? I can sure relate to that. Opportunities just keep/kept opening up, and it is ALL exciting and challenging!!! I am pretty sure that you had it the same way, as we had many of the same type jobs, and in the same places------and I loved it all, as you obviously do too.

I applaud you, Skeeter.

Wine Grape Inspector State of Calif.

Sold my Sanp- On Tool Route-Spent the first Summer as a Wine Grape Inspector, nest Summer as Supervisor of Inspectors at the Wineries around San Jose and Gallo Winery at Livingston.

Hard to beleive that the Farmers would bring as many as 700 Loads of Grapes to be Crushed at that one Winery!
Sample of the Grapes would be pulled from each Load, tested for Rot, Sugar{Farmers were Paid on Sugar Content}
Earnest Gallo would fly in each moring at 7 Am then on to Fresno and return at 7 Pm and those Grapes had better be in the Crusher with no Trucks lined up Full.
Then One day I discovered that one of my Inspectors had Forged a Certificate of Thompsons{$200 a Ton} for Zinfidels{$600 a Ton}. Thompsons were being sent to a Winery near Stockton Calif.bottled and labeled as Zin's.

Did not want to be involved with the Mafia so that was enough{Ready for another Career Change}. Later it cost the Boys in Stockton $13, Million Fine.

Dennis I sure do enjoy a good "Muscato" especially from the Central Valley of Calif.

Trouble again with Tomatoes next.

Sanp ?

MrBillM - 2-7-2008 at 02:03 PM

Is that a Texas Brand ?

I used to buy Snap-On and MAC Tools. No Sanp. Maybe they aren't sold in California.

Skeet/Loreto - 2-7-2008 at 02:43 PM

Well I am not sure why I Capitalize? Maybe a Physicosematic Problem with my Electralites!

How about some Stories from some of the Posters. Am sure we would all be interested and would Hope that it would turn out to be Nice and Easy.

This is Factual and is not meant to be Political in any way.

Why did I go to Baja for so many Years??

Living in Bishop Calif, hiking the Sierras, Fishing Amphitheater Lake at 11,000 Feet catching Crossbows, Towing Gliders into the Sierra Wave, Managing an Office for GAB, Investigating Claims for Firemans Fund at all the Brothells in Western Nevada, enjoying the "Hot Tub' at Mamouth after a Great Day of Skiing{Ski Patrol at Mamouth}??

Sister-in-Law gave me Ray Cannon's book for Christmas. Read the Book and could not beleive the Fishing was that good, so got into my Cessna and made my first Trip.

I was in Love with the Sea of Cortez and the People of Loreto -On my first trip, changed my way of thinking as I realized, I needed to make money so that I could go when I wanted. took nearly twenty years to get into that Position.{Several Career Changes}.
Another small consideration was the way the Culture was changing as the 60's and 70's and Social Engineering became Rampant.
Guess a little "Escapeism" came into Play.

Working in San Francisco during the Time of the "Flower Children", in Oakland during the time of Johnson's "EOA". I strived harder to reach my Goal of Self-Employment.

Great Part of my Life!

Hope others will share their Stories.

And was the fishing that good?

I grew up fishing Southern California waters, and took over my dad's copy of Ray Cannon's "How to Fish the Pacific Coast." That, and a meeting at a boat show booth, was my introduction to Ray Cannon. My Dad was in the boat biz and had boats at the boat shows, at the old Pan Pacific. Here's one of his Skagit brand boats:

That's not my Mom on the boat. :)

Mom and Dad, and an Aunt and Uncle and and other friends traveled to Mexico to fish in the 1950s, and took me on their last trip in 1961. The fishing was as good as Ray Cannon later said it was, in his Sea of Cortez book. You could catch these right off the little pier:

Skeet/Loreto - 2-8-2008 at 10:36 AM

Great Post Don;
The Skagit also inspired the "Arkansaw Traveler" a very good Boat.

Yes Don the Fishing was that good from 1967 and in my Humble Opinion it is still Good-Just different.

Watching a Mile of large Yellowtail on top of the Water.
Watching kids catching 25 Lb. Yellowtail from the Pier at the Sportsman.
Watching a 1/4 Mile of Skipjack forming a 2 Foot Wall in a Feeding Frensy.
Fishing for Shark off of San Nicholas.
Catching Grouper off the Isla
Diving and Snorkleing with the Hammerheads

Yes it was good!!
