Went to the Art Festival in Todos Santos

Not my idea of fun, but Ana had a great time shopping and looking.





I decided to sneak off and take a few photos.

Anyone know what these old ruins once were?














I'm thinking of repainting my truck now after seeing this beauty.

I think the ruins are the old sugar cane mill. Sugar cane used to be the big export and it was shipped out of the old port south of town.

They are indeed one of the , I believe , 12 sugar cane mills.

Curious, was the art festival just local artists? Do you have any detailed photos of what they were selling?

I like the sun you bought---it is a little different than most and if that is your home, wow, I LOVE the color.

I diligently walked both rows of the festival and inspected all the booths in the 5 minutes it took me to me to complete the task. Ana took a bit longer. It looked like a mix to me, some local artsy stuff and a bunch of the same old junk you see in all the tourist stores. I did like one guys carved stones set up next to the church. I can't believe I didn't take some photos of the pieces as they were very impressive. We also found the sun which we liked. It is hanging now on the front wall separating our house from the street. Ana picked the house colors but I do like them too.

Here are a couple more pics of the festival. Not really detailed though. Really not that many booths.

Unfortuately, artists who are not Mexican citizens are not allowed to participate. So the volume of art is significantly reduced from the old days, when it was open to all (like Los Barriles).
