On this map is:

the starting points Nuevo Mazatlan, Km. 32 & Bahia Santa Maria, Km. 31.

Each of those two campos original roads back west to the original Puertecitos road, near the sulfur mine: 4.4 miles from Hwy. 5 using Nuevo Mazatlan's old road or 3.6 miles using Santa Maria's old road.

The distance south on the old Puertecitos road to the Caņada el Parral (Azufre Wash/ Crazy Horse Canyon) road: 1.4 from the Nuevo Mazatlan route or 3.3 from the Santa Maria road.

The distance to the Y (Llanos de San Fermin left/ Parral right): 0.7 mi.

The distance in Caņada el Parral and to the Valle Chico road: 23.9 mi.

The distance north to Agua Caliente Hot Springs: 3.4 + 5.6 + 1.9 + 3.9 = 14.8 miles.

OR

The distance west and south to Berrendo Canyon: 3.4 + 1.4 + 3.0 = 7.8 miles.

OR

The distance south to Arroyo Matomi: 8.3 miles. From here:

It is 5.1 miles up Arroyo Matomi to the rancho and oasis pool.

It is 26.9 miles down the arroyo to Hwy. 5 at a point 10 miles north of Puertecitos.

Hwy. 5 junction back north to Nuevo Mazatlan is 17.6 miles.

Remember, milages do vary between vehicles and road conditions.

OK, I've changed this trail ride into a night run, in reverse, with no head lights, only flashlights, to make it more of a challenge to find where we are going.
Kidding :):):)
Thanks for the info David, I'm glad you don't surf

In order to show more detail here on Nomad, I have split the map into two and zoomed in on the areas of travel, then reduced to under 50 kbs for posting here...

Nuevo Mazatlan or Bahia Santa Maria to sulfur mine 'El Apache' and half way through Caņada el Parral towards Valle Chico... and on the return the east half of Arroyo Matomi and Hwy. 5 back north...

Valle Chico and the west half of Arroyo Matomi...

The distance to Hwy. 5 noted at the top of the map is to a point about 5 miles north of San Felipe, which is at the El Dorado storage facility on the new Moerlia/ Saltito access road.

The distance in Agua Caliente Canyon is to the hot spring (3.9 mi.), which in 2004 included a 1.1 mile hike. The road may be open all the way to the spring now, since some development was underway to make it a campground per an email some months ago.

'Plan Nacional Agrario' is a mostly abandoned ejido village, also called 'Agua Caliente' on some maps... The home at the intersection there of the three roads was occupied.

There was no rancho or building at the mouth of the canyon where the map shows one called 'Agua Caliente'.

The 'X's I put over roads on the map mean the road is washed out, or not found on my explorations. There are many more roads than shown in Valle Chico...
