THE MEXICAN KAYAKER

rob - 2-15-2008 at 10:02 AM

Yesterday afternoon, here at Rancho la Aguja (Pacific Coast of Mexico west of La Paz, Google 23.988347, -10.901114) the sea washed up one Abraham Levy, lately of Colima and Mexico City.

He proceeded to eat us out of house and home while he told us of his quest - to be the first to kayak both coasts of Mexico. He has already completed the Caribbean coast (see his website "www.abrahamlevy.com").

He has a touch of flu this morning, but will be taking off for Todos Santos and Cabo doing his usual 50km a day - I hope that if he washes up on YOUR shore, you will offer a BajaNomad welcome - he is a good guy.

A last unconnected point - just managed to post Rancho La Aguja weather on Weather Underground - for me - a stunning tech achievement. The link is updated hourly at

http://www.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXDailyHistory.as...

Sorry, can't figure out how to make that clickable.

He "washed up" in our front yard too on February 1st in San Juanico! Abe really has an appetite for sure as he stayed with us for three days, eating, sleeping and taking care of a sore arm before heading South. Glad to hear he is well. In the photo, he is updating his website as Cynthia Wagstaff, a local, resident looks on. The system he uses is the smallest sat phone/keyboard combiation I have ever seen. If he washes up in front of your place, please be sure to let him stay with you...really a great guy!

Well, he better stay the hell out of the way of my Jetski!

Just kidding.. sounds like an awsome trek. I wish him luck and good seas.

. . . and he's off . . .

Well - yesterday (that's Saturday, if it matters) Abraham left Rancho la Aguja - rather reluctantly, but there was nothing left to eat.

He was a great guest, and will spend the next 5 months finishing off the Mexican Pacific Coast, ending with a big party in Puerto Chiapas sometime in September.

Here are a couple of departing shots (this never works for me .. one with Linda, the ranchera - the other teaching us never to wave backwards when entering large surf).
