Citrus is a no-no and will be taken, if found. ;)

Mediterranean fruit fly is nothing to fool with.

Keep an eye out for our red 86 ford with camper. We will be headed north very soon.

When we crossed in November only asked if we had any fruit and didn't seem to care about meat or veggies. May be no big family BBQ's that weekend:lol:

Woody I crossed a few days ago and was asked the standard questions...to which said no. When ask the second time if I had ANY veggies, I said si uno onion...he smiled and motioned forward. That's when the OTHER two beggars handed me a ticket for 20 pesos...when I complied with said handout, the other stumblebum squirted something on the left front corner of my rig and misting onto my windshield. The next day when the sun came up, I damn near wreaked...could not see the road at all.

Al

Don't understand.... the misting is automatic now (by machine).. The guy just pushes a button.

AL,

When I crossed recently the stuff sprayed up from the road bed. Must have been broken, they haven't sprayed by hand in some time.

Went thru GN in december just waved us through both going down and coming back

I've only been sprayed going south (in the past). Now I bypass the border by turning right at the airport sign about 1 1/2 - 2 klicks before the border. Follow the road as it winds to the left past the airport and come out on the main drag in GN by the canal near the Banamex. Buena Suerte, Paul Boe

boe4fun, now you've done it....

...gone and let everyone in on GN's big secret...:o

Actually, that 'run around' the border crossing has been bandied about several times here, and known by many for years!

I've been 'down town' in GN using the Pemex, and decided to use that route North...it's always a challenge if you haven't used it much from GN going North...and I always visualize someone from the border or Military base watching me through binoculars as I move along the dirt tracks North to merge with Hwy 1 again - sending out an armed Hummer to intercept us... Hasn't ever happened, but I'm glad when I'm back on Hwy 1, running again!

that is a legal road to the airport and the lovely dunes area...lots of people use it every day.

Al G - 2-18-2008 at 09:05 AM

Would a large motorhome pulling a trailer draw much attention:?::biggrin:

shari - 2-18-2008 at 09:09 AM

It doesn't matter...it's a legal road

oxxo - 2-18-2008 at 09:26 AM

We passed through going South on Feb. 5. Guy asked us if we had any fruit or veggies, which we didn't. He waved us through. No spraying, no 20 pesos.

Yup, Mex. 1 isn't the only road that crosses into Baja Sur! El Arco and the El Arco bipass road to Guillermo Prieto are some others...
