Camping & Biking

Hello, I?m going to bike down Baja California in October.
Any last tips for me?
- does it take longer than 3-4 weeks?
- any camping recommendations? Is it easy to camp free?
- I read that it?s better not to camp north of Mulege. Why?
- are there banks along the Carretera 1 to draw money?
- what about man-eating wild animals?

Thanks for the help!

Well I think you would have to be nuts to do it but I see some hardy souls out there.
about 75% of the road is barely wide enough for two trucks to pass, one usually has a tire of the asphalt when it happens, there are steep dropoffs everywhere but other than that........

Camping above mulege is not bad at all. the northern part of the Baja is more populated so it has more of the attendant social ills that accompany such a situation, just be a little wary and use common sense especially around the Catavinia area

Virtually all the larger towns have banks, ATM's and internet cafe's.

Camping is plentiful and free or cheap. it is especially beautiful between Mulege and Loretto.

No man eating wild animals I know of but plenty of scorpions, black widows, and rattlesnakes.

Good luck and have fun
