Free Spay/Neuter Clinics on Both Sides

Gypsy Jan - 2-29-2008 at 04:17 PM

I received an email from the "Give Some Life Foundation" and they say they are a 501c3 nonprofit, offering free spay/neuter with clinics in Otay (U.S.), TJ, Rosarito, Mexicali, Ensenada and San Felipe.

The email had lots of pictiures and I didn't want to try to cut and paste it to Nomad.

I am not familiar with this organiztion, but the email was very thorough about supplying information on the names of the vets, their qualifications and contact information.

I gotta admit, they had me with the motto - "Hug a Vet, the Other Family Doctor."

They are everything they say they are. A year ago February, they conducted a free spay and neuter clinic in Punta Banda, which BajaBound 2005 and I helped coordinate. In a day and a half, using what they refer to as the "Quick Spay" method, 99 dogs and 10 cats were neutered, all without subsequent complications. The procedures were performed by experienced and highly competent Mexican veterinarians.

For a long time afterward, we noticed fewer dogs in the area and, more importantly, far fewer dead dogs on our roadways. Regrettably, Give Some Life has gotten very busy in other parts of Baja (actually, I guess it's a good thing), so that the stray and neglected population seems to be making a strong comeback.

They do a regular clinic at one of the main firehouses in TJ every couple of weeks, in case you want to observe what a wonderful thing they're doing.

What a great organization.

ANIMALANDIA IN LORETO

Marla Daily - 3-1-2008 at 01:49 PM

ANIMALANDIA in Loreto is another free spay/neuter clinic operating in Baja. To date over 2100 dogs have been spayed/neutered in the last two years. There are currently no street dogs in Loreto! We are looking for volunteer vets for this spring. Know someone? Send them our way please! (U2U me).
See www.animalandia.org for more info.

The group, Give Some Life Foundation, does clinics in TJ, Mexicali, San Felipe and Rosarito. TJ is the first Sunday of each month. Tomorrow it will be at the University in Otay Mesa. San Felipe is the 3rd Sunday of each month, Mexicali the last Sunday of each month.

The website is www.givesomelife.org
They are an excellent organization and worthy of our support!
