Shari and Juan's bahia asuncion casas

mariposajim - 3-1-2008 at 06:05 AM

In mid february, a friend and I stayed at one of shari's and juan's casas in BA. We stayed in a 3bdr casa with everything you would need. Two other houses were in the same general area. The houses are close to the beach, main drag, store, and (most importantly) beer. And of course, Juan and Shari are wonderful hosts. I am sure we will be back again (San Roque looked really, really inviting).

Add us to the list. My two riding buddies and myself have set our schedule to allow us to ride our dual-sport motorcycles from Viscaino Junction out to Bahia Acuncion for the Sunday night feast. We will likely be camping in our tents. We'll take off Monday morning planning to arrive in San Nicolas' the same day.

YEEEOOOW...That's a week from tomorrow!!!

Vags,

Careful on the bikes during the section from Viscaino to the Asuncion turn-off. There were some areas of serious potholes. None too deep but it looked like the crew that was patching a few each day was losing the battle.
I bet you have a blast on the detour road alonside the new Asuncion road construction. It's about 5 miles of big dirt whoopdi's !!
Have fun !!

We just returned from Bahia Asuncion. My husband and I have been spending time in Baja for the past 18 years and we both fell totally in love with this place. We stayed in Shari and Juan's Sunset House, the house has great views and everything you will need to make your stay comfortable. Shari is a wonderful hostess, she showed us around the town before we settled into our casa. We met a lot of the local people who were all very friendly and made us feel right at home. After only a day and half we decided to buy a lot and build a house there. I really can't explain this place, you will just have to give Shari a call to experience Bahia Asuncion for yourself.

enchantment, a feeling of peace, a community, being a part of that community, smiles

gracias amigos for your support...we're not the Ritz by any means, but we are blessed with a safe, beautiful, friendly community of which I am proud to share. I have taken a fair amount of flack from some baja lovers who want to save these remaining gems for themselves....to those of you who feel this way, I offer my apologies...but my heart is warmed each time one of you thanks us for inviting you to this lovely part of the coast. To those of you who come...tread lightly, treat the locals with respect and understanding and you will be forever welcome here.

Redfaced(for not commenting before) and having just returned from the Baja, we stayed at Shari and Juans' in January. They were the ultimate hosts. We camped off of their patio for the weekend and had great food with great hosts. We met other Canucks and had a great weekend on our way to Pescadero. We had a chance to see the other cassitas and the town. It is very rustic and amazingly beautiful. The road from Vizcaino to Ascuncion was a trip in itself, the washouts were a great surprise! If we ever have the chance to do it again we will in a minute.
