hardly Bob. but info is for a buddy and his wife. they don't "do" internet very well and are tired of the big RV expos and dealer shows. they want
input from the few who live it, the lifestyle.

I have owned all types over the years. Born a sagittarian, you know, so I am cursed to wander the earth.
Personally, I prefer the pickup, fifth wheel, and boat behind combos, but realize your friends have made thier minds up on a Class C. So be it.
Mine is a Winnebago Class C Minnie Winnie 25' with 350 Chevy engine. Two captian chairs with armrests up front. The interior layout is ideal with a
rear bath/toilet/shower. The mid-cabin full couch makes into a bed, as does the opposing dinette...in addition to the over-the-cab queen bed. Sleeps
5 very comfy, but if someone snores...wha?..hey, I never really mentioned anyone by name, dear..
I have pulled a 19ft fishing boat to hell and back with this MH. From Alaska to southern Baja and across the outback of Canada many times. Have also
hooked a large cargo trailer behind with a Harley and some other toys inside. Lots of storage compartments, etc. Roof walkable for extra cargo, etc.
Awnings and sunglare windows are a must for Baja camping trips...but work well for Alaska rains and mucho sunlight too.
A good used Class C won't break the bank. Your friends could check these good sites for new and used. Search 'Class C's' and they will find
hundreds. Now's a good time to buy with rising fuel prices. Mine makes about 9-12 mpg depending on conditions at the time. That's about as good as
it gets with a MH.

I own a 1978 Holiday Rambler Class C (on a Ford chasis with a 460).
The 460 gets 10 mpg, which is xlnt for its size - 24 ft. I tow our 1968 RCA Formula V vintage race car all over the NW with it and it still gets 10
mpg.
The Holiday Ramblers are tops! All aluminum, very little wood anywhere, one piece alum. roof (no leaks or service required).
I didn't have to break my piggy bank to buy this last year...
BTW, my HR has an extra / auxillery 100 gallon welded steel plate gas tank that sits between the chasis long-members (low center of gravity) combined
with the 35 gallon "regular" tank that 135 gallons at 10 mpg is a bit painful to fill up, but VERY convenient when travelling ! ! (My brother calls
it the "perfect terrorist vacation rig"!!!.... (A very comfortable long-distance, campable carbomb :lol

i think they understand 24-28' is a good range but sounds like keep it to a chevy 350 or slightly bigger V8 for power and decent fuel burn.
Pomp - i only get 12.87 nautical miles per gal in my piper straightline crow flying distance. but i do it at 180 mph. the real "burn" is avgas
stateside now at $5 a gal almost everywhere
so in mexico avgas like car gas is much better deal. i plan to hit loreto tues landing with only an hour reserve then load up to the hilt at $3.40 a
gal.

Hey Mike,
Why don't you circle the airport till you're almost out.
That way you get to fill your whole tank for that $ 3.40 AVgas.
