In another life, a long time ago, I worked with Home Depot corporate in the days when their stock price was a lot lower.
At that time, I was impressed by the competence of their senior executives and their business model that included giving back to the community.
In recent years, the people I knew are no longer there and the corporate philosophy seems to have shifted, at least from this customer's perspective.
The Home Depots in San Diego have been very disappointing lately with regards to service and selection. Help is hard to find and when you find
someone, they are surly and distracted, leaving you alone while they page the aisle "expert" who doesn't show up for a very long time.
Also, I really(!) dislike that they try to force you to use the automated checkout .
So, what does this have to do with Baja? Today, when hubby walked into the Rosarito Home Depot, he was welcomed by an employee who asked how he could
help him find what he wanted. When it became apparent that they didn't have the item, he wrote a note and said that they would order it.
While hubby was shopping, another employee approached and said, "Hi, remember me? I made keys for you last week, if you need anything, let me know,
I'll get it for you."
By the way, the store was very busy.

Thanks Jan. Customer service is a dying art north of the border. Glad to hear it's being revived here.
Enough with the good news

...bad news moves faster and is much more important.
If you don't have any bad news about Baja, make some up. It is a rich tradition among those who call themselves reporters.
Jan, the reason for the employee remembering a gringo is that there are none left in town.

Dear Gull,
He, he, he. (Giggles and looks for a hot tub.)
Oh wait, they have them for sale at Home Depot.
