I know this photo will stretch most
viewers screens, but I think many
will find this of interest and I
didn't want to reduce it.

This jpg was sent to me by a
friend and I don't know where he
got it from.

Here is a link to a image you can really zoom in on and get better detail. I am sure a reprint it can be ordered, but I have not discovered how just yet, he sells reprints of many maps in the david rumsey collection, I just can't find the path to this one.....

Publication Note: The five maps which accompany Pike's report are of great importance, especially the two maps of Louisiana which Wheat calls "maps of outstanding historic interest... beautifully drawn." Pike's map of New Spain was copied from Humboldt's manuscript map, although Humboldt did not publish his map until 1811. All maps uncolored and bound into the back of the book. Full leather covers with "Pike's Expeditions" imprinted on the spine.

Too cool! Check out the confluence of the Colorado and Gila rivers, site of present day Yuma, and notice how wide the rest of the Colorado was between there and the top of the gulf before we sucked it dry. Most of that former riverbed is now farmland.
