I heard that Jardines is now open after all the remodeling. Viejo San Quintin is closed. It's now Jardines Hotel, and restaurant. Rooms are $35
single, $40. double, and $100. suite. The daughter and husband who were running Viejo San Quintin are running the restaurant. Jardines is actully in
Lazero Card##as I believe. Has anyone checked it out yet?

Aja! So there was a hidden agenda there. I stayed at the hotel on the way back from the last B1K. The restaurant wasn't open yet but they

I looked for the restaurant yesterday when I was driving around. The Vet/feed store took over the whole building. I did a double take for sure.
I plan to try Jardines next trip. Maybe next weekend.
The weather was fantastc yesterday. The swell still looked a little big when I drove by Socorro on Sunday afternoon.
If that swell dies down I will go out and hang a big croaker!
The bahia was flat calm but not many boats coming in. A couple.
I have a gear question. Why 30lb top over 50lb backing. Aren't you still fishing with 30? Why not all 30?

I fish the 30 lbs string, or even 20 lbs topshot over 50lbs spectra, if I can fish away from all the kelp. However, if the action is right in the
kelp, I take the mono. topshot off the reel and go with straight spectra. If I get pulled into the kelp the spectra will cut right through the kelp.
That was the main reason I bought the Diawa Saltist 20 for 30lbs spectra, and 50lbs spectra for the Saltist 30. I'm thinking of forgetting the
topshot, and going straight spectra, but I'm old school....I just like the feel, and stretch of mono. That being said I lose alot of fish, and gear to
the kelp in the El Socorro area. Those fishtraps, and most of all the crocs. are like $20. bills on the end of the line in San Quintin. I had 30
crocs. at the house in El Socorro last Sept. I'm down to 5. Also if I need to fish deep 200-350ft., I know I have at 300 yds. of spectra on these

On to the fishing question......
Spectra will last much longer (years) than mono and is usually thinner diameter. So you can get a bit more line on the reel and only replace the mono
topshot as needed.
Using 80lb mono over 80lb spectra would act to put a little stretch in your rig.
Some folks put on a lighter topshot for presentation to lighter fish.
I don't really get it either.
Length of topshots is also a hot topic.
