Inauguration of Asuncion sports complex

shari - 3-5-2008 at 09:50 AM

Our brand new huge sports complex was officially opened yesterday with the usual government fanfare...speeches..fokloric dancing and promises of more goodies to come. We were all very happy to hear our dear governor annouce that by the end of this year, the last thirty km of the dirt road will be paved. The road crews are working seven days a week at the moment on it...so you have to take a very wild and crazy side road in. And the water line from Vizcaino is being replaced finally The new sports complex is awesome with a huge stage, new bathrooms, lights and will be a welcomed addition to our village to be proud of.

I love the view of the hills behind it. The dancers had new costumes that were lovely, the skirts have palms and cave painting design.

looks like a great facility, Shari.
what sport(s) is it for?

shari - 3-5-2008 at 10:30 AM

This facilitly is a basketball court, volleyball and soccer and will be used for all our weddings, quinceaneras, dances, parties, plays...so is like a combined sports/cultural center for all the town events...it is soooo nice and a very welcomed addition to the village. Go governor!

For many many years the folks in baja central have complained of being forgotton...they always said..."isnt Mulege county part of baja sur?" because all the government money went to los cabos, la paz and loreto...so finally the government took notice and has responded to their pleas for community improvements...in the last few years, we have power, internet, phones, cell phone tower, improved water sysem, paved roads and now a cultural center....things are definately looking up for the forgotten coast.
