Catavina hotel ( not the old La Pinta )?

Cardon Man - 3-5-2008 at 01:02 PM

Gotta make a spur of the moment trip to the USA and will drive back down. Looks like the Desert Inn is booked on the day I pass through Catavina. Anyone know if that other "flea bag" hotel is open? The one on the opposite side of the road just before the old La Pinta? any info appreciated.

There is a Motel on the right side after the La Pinta Hotel going north, they usually are not booked up.

The Motel Linda. We stayed there twice. Not bad by Baja standards and about $35 a night as I recall...dt

Yeah, that's the one! I stayed there a couple of years ago but on my last drive south in late '06 it wasn't open. Was curious if anyone had been through there recently.

They were open 2 weeks ago but we were just passing through, didn't stay.

Rancho Santa Ynez??

.7 of a mile south of La Pinta, east side of the highway - then head east on a gravel road. We've stayed in the "bunk house" a time or two - cheap & clean.

Top red dot (quite faint) of the attached image is La Pinta along Highway 1, turn off - Rancho Santa Ynez in at the right edge of the image, north of the runway. Follow the dots!

We stayed at Linda's earlier this year---not bad, clean, decent bed , nice people, and they will cook for you.

Just remember that C is for hot water and H is for cold water and the generator goes out at 9:30-10pm, bring a flashlight.
