They take a retro approach to a modern type of music,
and created a sub-genre that has been going strong since the early 90s...

Here's an eyeful...:o

I invited everyone I know that listens to "Alternative" types of music, and the only guys that would go are both musicans - one 29,
the other in his mid 40s. Everyone else said, "That music gives me a headache", etc.
This music appeals to people in their 20s to early 30s at best.

Lots of percussion....hypnotic, repetitive percussion. That can take one's mind anywhere one allows it to go. It was so much easier in the sixties. One small Owsley hit and no drum headache.

I don't know, Ken. It looks like recycled Haight Ashbury.

Gil lets it be known that he's from the 60s Haight Ashbury scene.
He plays that up, bigtime. Look at the clothes he (still) wears and his, um, haircut...

I'll bet he never missed a "Burning Man" event.

I don't see anybody actually playing an instrument. Seems like some kind of loop on tape, maybe from a Moog synthesizer? I was in the Haight in 67 too, but I guess I didn't get stuck there.

Goa Gil performs in his studio, takes the pre-recorded music, and then mixes it live using a mixing board.
Here is some of his music he has mixed and/or recorded. You might like it!

My personal update is that I planned to drive to Tijuana to see Goa Gil perform during this pre-cinco de mayo weekend, but it looked as if (from what I could gather) that the event was held just north of Ensenada on the free road. Too Far!!
:fire: :fire: :fire:

Maybe the next time I'm in Goa, India I will definitely hit one of Goa Gil's famous beach parties...

This guy's into synthesized mood altering, Marty.

You'll have to settle for Psilocybin tabs, man.
