Ana and I decided to drive out to Playa Tecolote today and see how crowded it was getting with the beach campers coming out in force over the Easter
weekend.
First thing, on the edge of La Paz out by Marina Palmira, the police were stopping cars and passing out large heavy-duty black trash bags to everyone.
"To keep our beaches clean."
More traffic than normal with a truck full of police right behind us the whole way to Playa Balandra. Also went through another police roadblock, this
time Federal Police, but just waved through.
Here are the photos of Tecolote. Wonder how crowded it will be by Saturday?

Lots of police presence.
Farm truck turned into camper for the weekend.
Plenty of EMT's on hand. bajajudy - 3-21-2008 at 07:48 AM
I was in San Lucas yesterday and there was a cop on every corner. They looked ready for the crowds.Price - 3-21-2008 at 08:43 AM
In San Felipe you can hardly see the beach - we even have imported cops from Mexicali - last night there was a line of about 40 people at the police
station waiting to pay fines - vandenberg - 3-21-2008 at 08:56 AM
Thanks BMG,
Nice pictures of my favorite Baja beach.
Fond memories of it in the 80's when there wasn't anything but sand, no palapas or structures of any kind, except some old ranch house on the west
end.
And you had to bribe the cabdrivers to take you there and hope they come back for you in the afternoon.
Mistake:
That were the 70's. How time flies.

Semana Santa, ooops, politically incorrect, it's Semana Mayor now; Juncalito beach is usually pretty deserted but not yesterday — jammed.

Los Cerritos was absolutely packed... even the area "For guests of Los Cerritos Beach Club Only" It was so great to see so many Mexicans...(
although apparently not all locals). If there were tour groups there from Cabo... must have been hiding as we sure did not see any Maybe Acuity will bring his camera on Sunday to post pics!!!!Paula - 3-21-2008 at 09:09 PM

Semana Mayor

That's apparently the politically correct spin on Semana Santa. Like in the US where Easter Week becomes Spring Break to avoid the appearance of
religious favoritism. PC has arrived. Gracias a Dios... or... whatever.comitan - 3-22-2008 at 06:28 PM
