Hotel Solmar from the Whaler's Bar at the Finesterra, 1976. Looks kinda naked:
Now the quiz: Who's this? Hint: He's a true Baja Legend (think fishing), mentioned in Greg Niemann's "Baja Legends". Location is Hotel Punta
Pescadero, about 1975:
Anyone who knows this one is a real old-timer, and with a great memory. Who is the lady on the right of the picture with the Tecate?

This was probably too ambitious. I took those photos before many Nomads were born. The man is Jerry Klink, a pioneer Baja fisherman and author. He
wrote "The Mighty Cortez Fish Trap" published in 1974. I think Jerry is no longer on this side of the sod.
The woman is Kathy Ward. She and her husband Bill bought Hotel Punta Pescadero (where the picture was taken) in the mid 70s and operated it for, I
think, about 20 years before they sold it and returned to the US. She does look a little like Doris Day . They lived on the grounds and were wonderful hosts.

mike I think that was Bud Parr. Did you every know Col. Walters, the guy who built Rancho Buena Vista??
yes Bud Parr, thx i think his son was killed in an aeroplane too.
no, not the Col.
we never really became regulars enuff on the cape to tune in to all that. once Los Barriles airstrip closed 1990 and with Rancho Leonero and the rest
like Buena vista strips washed out we decided with only 2 left like Pescadero and colorado we'll only do the cape every few years.
now Los Frailes is coming back, they just did a major renovate at Punta colorado and Rincon got bought so the developers of Cabo De Cortes (yes they
spelt it wit an "S"! can put in a new pista for jets! the mui rico are taking over the cape slowly surely......can't blame them, if i had the bucks
i'd buy some of it too.
its the Spaniards coming in too with the bigger bucks, ditto Santa Barbara deal by Coyote.
