Your Mechanic Fed You Lobster??

DianaT - 3-23-2008 at 09:33 PM

Yesterday late morning we waived good-bye to a friend who came to visit us. Less than 2 hours later, he was deposited back on our front porch by some locals who had found him standed on the dirt road out of town. His Mustang's oil pan had a disagreement with a large rock and the rock won---opps :O:O

We managed to get the car back to town and to the local mechanic. We left the Mustang as the mechanic was busy and would not get to it until around 3 p.m. We returned our friend to the mechanic at 3 and said we would check back later.

Well, the mechanic was not quite ready to look at the car, so he invited our friend into his house to share a late afternoon meal. The main course just happend to be lobster tails in garlic butter.:yes

After the painful delay,, they temporarily repaired the large slash in the oil pan with some epoxy type mixture they use on boat motors. It had to dry overnight before the oil could be replaced.

No problem that it was Easter, they were waiting for us at 8 AM. Epoxy dry, oil filled, and off we all drove. We followed him at a VERY slow pace to Vizcaino, and all was well. We all continued on. Here we sit at Baja Cactus and our friend has continued on toward the border---he wants to make work tomorrow.

BTW, while our friend''s car was being fixed', these mechanics were supposed to be at our home repairing a bad welding job done by another person. They knew it was important as we were leaving today. We did not expect them since our frined jumped in line. But a they arrived a little after 6 pm and finished the job an hour later.

OK, many of you have GREAT Baja mechanic stories, but how many of you were fed a lobster dinner while waiting for your car repair??

When people ask us what we like about this place, we just smile.

Sort of how he feels---leaving was not something he wanted to do.
