First Class Hotel in San Felipe

bonanza bucko - 3-28-2008 at 07:42 PM

We are looking for a first class hotel in San Fellpe. We used to stay at the El Cortez a lot but it's fallen on hard times. The Marina Resort on the south side of town has been given mixed reviews by friends. We are willing to pay what it is worth. We'd like a hotel that has a dining room/restaurant included but that's not an imperative. Any suggestions?

Some friends of ours went with family and loved this place.

A lot depends on what you consider 1st class. Hotels in Baja range all over the place. Most are sub motel 6 quality with a big price tag. Some are priced about what they're worth in the $25 range. If you go to Baja or a specific town in Baja often you can stay in a different place each time and make comparisons. I usually stay at the El Capitain in San Felipe mainly due to it's location and parking and the price is not bad at $50. For the SF250 race I stayed at the Las Palmas and the room was good but the price was way too much. When I reserved it (the only one I could find) I had to do three nights at $120 per night. I'll camp next year. In searching for a room for the race I went to several hotels off the main streets and some looked really nice and only a couple of blocks west of the water front.

Bucko just go with the costa Azul cause it's on the water but closest to the malecon for strolling eating and drinking.

After seeing the rooms, plus smelling them at Costa Azul it would be right about second to the bottom of my list of places to stay!
I thought a First Class Motel was requested?????

The Marina is actually pretty nice, especially the Junior suites. It is overpriced, but the closest to "First Class" IMO.

First class no, but clean and recently upgraded.

La Hacienda de la Langosta Roja

1 or 2 blocks off Malecon

San Felipe and First Class are mutually exclusive terms. Rustic is a much better description.

While not a hotel, you may want to consider a condo or house at http://www.laventanadelmar.com/Vacation/
